Living out our God-given calling as we follow Jesus and make disciples everyday.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Ninety-nine.
That’s how many people were baptized at Long Hollow on one cloudy COVID Sunday, December 20, 2020. Half the church had stayed home.
My great friend @rgallaty (and incredible preacher/scholar) finished his sermon, walked to the baptistry, and invited anyone who had never been baptized as a believer to come and obey Christ. Right then. No change of clothes.
For four or five minutes, nobody moved.
Then one person stood up. Then two. Then three.
Over the next eight months, as many as 1,600 people came looking for baptism. From 17 states. Maine. Oregon. Nevada. California. A Harley rider still in his biker vest. Robby asked them why they came. Almost every one gave the same answer:
“The Holy Spirit compelled me. I had to come.”
Here’s what gets me. It started on a back porch. Night after night, a desperate pastor sat out there in the dark and waited to hear from God. Robby says he was sinking like a rock. And God met him on that porch.
That’s the story behind his new book, WAIT / HEAR. Seven practices: stillness, listening, rhythm, humility, faith, remembrance, Sabbath. He wrote it for anyone who wants more of God and is tired of the noise.

So when was the last time you sat still long enough to listen? Is your phone louder than your prayer life? What might God say if you waited?
Get the book, and grab a few copies for your friends and for your pastor while you’re at it. Then go find your porch.

@longhollow — Hendersonville, Tennessee.

#14 Fastest Growing. #93 Largest.
Outreach 100, 2026.

Growing that fast means more people showing up than your systems were built for. The hard part isn't the Sunday — it's everything that has to work the other six days so the people who came back actually stay.

Long Hollow is one of 18 churches on the Outreach 100 running on Apollos.

Congratulations to their team.

We are still thinking about what a special night this was.

Our Agape Banquet was a beautiful celebration of 11 years of God’s faithfulness and the people who continue to say YES to making Jesus known across Nations!

A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors who helped make this night possible. Your generosity goes far beyond one evening. You are helping us continue the work, love people well, and bring hope to communities around the world.

We are so grateful for every sponsor, table host, volunteer, donor, and friend who came alongside us.

11 years down, and there is still so much ahead! ✈️

A little glimpse of a Sunday morning at Long Hollow

I’ve read over 100 books a year for more than a decade, so when I say a book is one of my favorites, I don’t say that lightly.

I was honored to get an advanced copy of Robby Gallaty’s new book, Wait/Hear: Recapturing the Lost Art of Hearing God’s Voice, and I HIGHLY recommend it.

We live in a world that celebrates being busy. Our schedules are full, our phones are constantly buzzing, and there’s always something else demanding our attention.

Sometimes we can even become so busy doing things for God that we don’t slow down long enough to actually hear from God.

That’s what I loved about this book.

Robby shares from his own journey of burnout, loss, and rediscovering the importance of quiet, stillness, and learning to recognize God’s voice again.

If you’re in a season where you’re asking God, “What’s next?” “What are You trying to show me?” or “What are You saying to me right now?” This book is a must-read.

Wait/Hear officially releases September 22, but you can preorder it now.

Great job, @rgallaty. This is a message I believe a lot of people need right now. 🙏
