Admittedly, the Longines ‘6 tacche’ models are less rare than their ‘3 tacche’ counterparts. However, add an almost perfectly matching ladies’ version, with the same stepped case design, identical dial configuration, near identical hands and even remarkably similar patina, and the rarity equation is turned completely on its head. Ladies’ versions are considerably rarer than their male counterparts, and, as this example demonstrates, the quality of manufacture is every bit as high. Finding two such closely matched watches from the 1930s is exceptionally difficult, making this a rare opportunity to acquire a true period his-and-hers set. It took years to find the matching watch and complete this pair. For that reason, the two watches will only be sold together. 🟢 1300 CHF (for both watches together!)

There’s also a new bracelet introduced, creating a surprising sporty character of this rather dressy piece. The fresh addition of colours include brown, green and blue options, joining the last year’s black and silver iterations. Longines brought also the new H-Link bracelet to the table giving the vintage vibe models a nice contemporary flair. A series of prototypes and samples invariably precedes the release of a watch. This process proved particularly important during the quartz crisis, when every detail had to be carefully refined and optimized to maximize a model’s commercial potential. Dating to around 1976, this piece represents an exceptionally rare sample of the Longines ref. 2370, the only example known to me. It is fitted with a period-appropriate bracelet and remains completely anonymous, bearing no obvious branding or identifying marks. Well loved by its previous owners, the watch nevertheless offers a remarkable and exceptionally rare glimpse into the development and production process behind Valjoux and Longines during this pivotal period. 🔴 SOLD
