Join us for the Vinyl Launch of « A Comparative Dialogue Act » by Andrea Mancini and Every Island on November 22nd at Studio Giardini in Venice from 18:00-23:00. This free and public event celebrates the finissage of the Luxembourg Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale.

The vinyl record has been conceived to capture the essence of what unfolded: an ongoing dialogue between the performing artists @radicalized_faghag @bis0u.magiqu3 @stinaforce and @xbellaxbaguenax. Each artist contributed one out of four voices within the composition, always in conversation with one another. The content consists of either sample material drawn from their shared sound library, which acted as a collaborative tool, or live recordings from their residency within the space. The sounds are primarily vocal or sonic imprints of their presence.

The record is published by Lenz Press and Mudam Luxembourg.

🎨 It was an absolute pleasure to experience Andrew Ntshabele’s exhibition, « The Silent Companions, » currently on view at Lou&Lou Gallery until October 26th! 🌍

Ntshabele’s journey, from his early years in Moruleng, South Africa, to life in bustling Johannesburg, is beautifully reflected in his work. His paintings are rich with layers of history, emotion, and personal experience. They move seamlessly between themes of hardship and resilience, capturing both the struggles of growing up during apartheid and the everyday joys found in post-apartheid South Africa.

What struck me most is the evolution of his artistic voice. In his earlier works, the focus was on poverty and the pain of those marginalized by circumstance. Now, he shifts toward celebrating moments of happiness and connection in urban Johannesburg, revealing a more vibrant spectrum of human emotions. Through bold textures, captivating color contrasts, and vivid scenes, Ntshabele offers us not just a glimpse of his world but a deeper reflection on the human condition.

This exhibition is a powerful, moving tribute to the complexities of life and the resilience of the human spirit. If you’re in town, I highly recommend immersing yourself in Ntshabele’s captivating work!

🗓 « The Silent Companions » runs until October 26th at Lou&Lou Gallery.

Enthusiast Description:

The artist employs mixed media to convey a subliminal message, subtly yet powerfully reflecting the struggles of South African society. Vivid brushstrokes depict unity in adversity, while scattered splashes of paint symbolize the everyday strain caused by state negligence.

With the end of the last residency in September, we entered the final phase of ‘A Comparative Dialogue Act’ life at the Biennale. We have been working on the mastering of the body of sounds, recordings and performances made in the pavilion over the last six months and they will now be compiled into a vinyl.

We do not see this as an outcome of the project, but rather as another step in the process, another tool to capture the evolving dialogue between the four invited artists @radicalized_faghag @bis0u.magiqu3 @stinaforce @xbellaxbaguenax . Its structure will consistently reflect the idea of a process without beginning or end and we are very much looking forward to having you listen to it. More details about the launch will be shared soon. In the meantime, enjoy a short snippet.
