All you need is a crate of ripe piennolo tomatoes, a big pot, fresh basil, and a morning spent making homemade tomato sauce in Italy. 🍅🇮🇹

Making passata is about more than just preserving fresh tomatoes—it’s one of those Italian food traditions that connects generations, reconnects you with your roots and turns a simple harvest into something you can enjoy all year long.

This is the kind of experience everyone needs at least once in their life and a tradition worth keeping alive.

Buon appetito.

Today in “not sponsored but I wish it was” (I should really start a series): Loopini. 🍕

They’ve been on my radar for a while, and last week I finally tried them. My fridge was basically empty, I wasn’t craving anything particularly meaty, and pizza sounded like the obvious answer.

I usually gravitate toward a higher-protein, lower-calorie pizza where I can eat the whole pie. I’m not trying to eat half a pizza and call it a day. 😝

Loopini pizzas are handcrafted in Italy and made with lupini beans, a seriously underrated superfood that’s naturally high in protein and fiber. You may be familiar with chickpea-based pasta like Banza, but lupini beans have more than 4x the protein and fiber of chickpeas by ratio, which is kind of wild.

I started with the Bianca al Tartufo because I will always choose a white pizza. At just 590 calories per pie with 54g of protein and 18g of fiber, it was the kind of pizza I could actually finish and feel good about.

And the taste? Genuinely one of the best frozen pizzas I’ve had. It has that Southern Italian flavor you’d hope for from a pizza actually made in Italy, with a creamy, savory truffle sauce, an impressively crisp thin crust, and a really satisfying cheese-to-crust ratio. The crust is a little denser and drier than a traditional pizza, almost more like a cracker, but it still delivers on the crunch.

I’m officially committed to trying the other two flavors.

Loopini, if you see this… say hi. This is me shooting my shot. 👋
