A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our Bake Sale for Humanity at the 18th Street Kitchen last weekend! We raised over $4,500 for @hospitality4pal with the help of our wonderful staff, volunteers and local businesses who donated treats towards the cause! We dropped the donation link in our bio just in case you couldn’t make it but would still like to support. Neighbors nourishing neighbors is what we are all about 💙

A Love Letter to San Francisco: To walk these well-sunned streets, looking up to the sky through bells of datura blooms, and along facades worthy of worship, to taste the sweets and meet the kindred spirits I have maybe always known but only just met while also marking circles 'round the sun with some of my near & dearest, to show my art work that was formed here in these sea breezes, a young adulthood raised under the best of freak flags, to bedeck others in jewelry that grew from sparks of tiny ideas that spun off the bench in my old studio (that is now a proper place for artists, quiet thankfully @minnesotastreetproject), to spend some time in a beautiful shop and leave with a button side skirt, to celebrate a collective (with @oxide.collective & company!), to wrestle with the thoughts that are now and the nostalgia that was then, to see mother/ daughter friendships that inspire, be present with designers I admire, to talk about life/love/the universe in commune with another bravely grey haired (and gorgeous inside and out) art lover/ advocate/ connector / creator, to be held & hosted, to be poetic and a messy naturalist, accomplished and starting anew--- this is a place that is both root and bloom to me. And for all of these - place & people of this place- I am eternally grateful. I leave tmw with eye-fulls of wonder and arm-fulls of hugs to tide me over til I'm back again in the blessed city by the Bay. All the love 🏵️ XxA

The second edition of the San Francisco Photobook Fair, which I’m proud and happy to have co-founded alongside Katherine @katherine.akey and Melissa @mcphotography, returns this weekend. Come celebrate with us and help us continue building this new tradition for San Francisco’s photography and photobook community. The fair will take place at the Harvey Milk Photo Center @harveymilkphoto and will once again bring together more than 40 publishers and artists from the Bay Area, across California, and throughout the US. Some are returning, and others will be participating for the first time.
 Once again, I’m grateful to all the colleagues, publishers, enthusiasts, and organizers of photobook and art book fairs in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Paris, Mexico, and elsewhere for their solidarity and valuable advice. This community is also built through these encounters.
 I’ll be there with La Chancleta Voladora, with a table full of Latin American photobooks, new releases, and essential classics. Special thanks to LOQUAT @loquatbakery for their support. Coffee, tea, and pastries available for purchase all weekend.

Ven a celebrar con nosotros y seguir construyendo esta nueva tradición para la comunidad fotográfica y del fotolibro de San Francisco.
 La feria tendrá lugar en el Harvey Milk Photo Center @harveymilkphoto y reunirá, una vez más, a más de 40 editoriales y artistas de la Bahía, de toda California y de todo US. Algunos repiten, y otros participan por primera vez.
 De nuevo agradecido con todos los colegas, editoriales, entusiastas y organizadores de ferias de fotolibros y libros de arte de Nueva York, San Francisco, Los Ángeles, París, México y otros lugares, por su solidaridad y sus valiosos consejos. Esta comunidad también se construye gracias a estos encuentros.
 Estaré allí con La Chancleta Voladora, con una mesa llena de fotolibros latinoamericanos, novedades y clásicos imprescindibles.

The veggie circus showed up in San Francisco this past Tuesday and I’m still not sure all of this actually happened? We ate the most glorious snacks from @loquatbakery and @doloresdeluxesf. @mackenzie_fegan asked me some seriously thoughtful questions (although I almost lost her quick-fire Jeopardy round despite having written the thing). I bought so many books at @omnivorebooks that I had to ship them home. And my dear pals @clairesalinda and @jasonlecras drove all the way up from LA to surprise me. Feeling so grateful to be living inside my own fever dream right now! 💚 (Photos 1, 5, & 11 by @jasonlecras! Everything else is @joshiefishbein)

Thank you team @loquatbakery Tal, Jodi & all the guys for such a gorgeous evening, and of course to @omnivorebooks for being the best cookbook shop. They prepared a load of dishes from our book, Honey & Co. Daily, and we had such a fun time with everyone who came down. Thank you for hosting us and making it so special. We love San Francisco!! What was on the menu? Well… what wasn’t? I *could* be a cool person and just title this post Life Lately or some other coy bullshit. But I’ll tell you what; the past week looked like a huge Mercury in retrograde-style hot mess. True challenges. My patience and self-worth being tested. You name it. And yet, here’s something I’m learning to do better - noticing the amazing things about the everyday (thankfully there’s plenty of that) and congratulating myself more, just because. Especially during weird, turbulent times. High five on the life I’m creating for myself, on the fact my brain still works and my love and curiosity for people doesn’t wane, on leading with passions and gut instincts (probably the hardest thing ever?!) Looking back, September was so abundant. Dancing (through tears in some cases)! Pools and beaches! Sweet friends! Community! It reminded me of all that (plus, nothing like hosting friends from abroad to get a really good perspective, highly recommend). Let’s keep going.

If you don’t like falafel, let me change your mind Day 76/100 sharing my fav munches in the city and today it’s literally everything from @loquatbakery at night, their popup that happens once every few weeks where they serve dinner 🍽️ If you haven’t been to Loquat for breakfast, this Jewish bakery should be on your list. But their Sabich and falafel (and chocolate cake!) just made me love them even more The falafel is moist and well balanced with the garlic tahini accompanying it, and the Sabich’s eggplant is perfectly crispy and wrapped up in a warm fresh homemade pita.
