Dear Tennis,
From the moment
We started rolling our dad’s tube socks
And hitting imaginary
Game-winning shots
On the courts of Redwood,
We knew one thing was real:
We fell in love with you.

A love so deep we gave you everything —
our time,
our energy,
our minds,
our bodies… and maybe some missed overheads.

We chased down every ball,
every drop shot,
every “no way they get that” moment—
and somehow still missed a few we’re not gonna talk about.

Because you asked for our effort,
and we gave you our heart.

Not because it was easy,
but because it meant something.

Through long practices,
tight matches,
and those days where serves just… didn’t go in,
we stayed.

Because it wasn’t just about tennis anymore.
It was about us.

This team.
This season.
2026 Tam High Boys Varsity Tennis.

We weren’t supposed to be anything.
But we became something.

We fought for every point.
We showed up for each other.
We turned a group of guys
into a team that could win matches…
and argue line calls like it was our job.

And now…

Now we know this is it.

Our hearts can take the pressure.
Our minds can handle the grind.
But our bodies—
yeah, they’ve been through enough super tie-breakers and Larry’s infamous volley drills.

And that’s okay.

Because we gave this everything we had.

So let’s savor it—
every last match,
every last point,
every last questionable call

Because no matter where life goes next,
we’ll always be those kids,
sun going down,
one more ball,
one more rally,
one more chance—

This past Friday was Senior Day—two words: an absolute blast.

The Hawks took on the Hornets of Novato (all buzz, no bite… clearly). With a lineup full of seniors and Team Cap Ethan tasked with elite pizza pickup duty at Stefanos, the boys were locked in to finish fast and eat faster.

3 dubs wasted no time—Dane and Henry (roughly a foot vs. skyscraper situation) wrapped it up in about 5 minutes. Next up, senior Nathaniel B… still hunting that first singles win, but hey, he’s Berkeley bound ig. Then Elliott and Trip absolutely steamrolled 2 dubs—Trip officially beating the “exhibition player” allegations.

Freddie made his return and battled, but sadly went down (practice jerseys still undefeated tho). 1 dubs had some early chaos, but Lorcan and senior Noah—powered by a full crowd of huzz—clutched up in a tiebreak with the squad going crazy.

Nate Schrauth snapped his racket, grabbed one of mine with pride, and turned his match into a W. Unreal. And Benjamin? Casual 6-0, then decided to make it interesting, but then said “nah” and won the tiebreak. Clutch gene.

After a solid speech from Coach Russ, the team destroyed some pizza and called it a night (Lights out at 8:30, always)
