I couldn’t believe it when I first saw this illustration. And no I’m not running for any political position guys. I just love being Filipino.

I used this moment to say my piece to keep the peace amongst all the parties that have been going around North America. Based off of the comments, it looks like a lot of you have felt inspired by the action I took and felt something deeper from what I said out loud. Inspired so much to where Lorenz was able to come up with this comic of me doing what I do. I was shocked to wake up to this in my stories. I was even more shocked that he gifted this illustration to me.

I wanted to share this illustration with you all because I don’t just see myself in this comic talking. I see a whole lot of other Filipinos saying the same exact thing. No judgement, no shame, no competition, no more. We are all better off together.

I have long struggled with idea of Thanksgiving. Every year I tell myself I am gonna go to the sunrise ceremony. That has never happened in the previous 13 years on this day of mourning and celebration. This was all the medicine I needed. I saw so many friends today. Shout out to @warrentrovert for being my accountability partner. I am a weak bitch but I got up at 3am and made it by 5am. I wore hella layers but mistakes were made. Next year bring a blanket. In total transparency idk if it’s reliving and reading what I have written that’s got me alllll fucked up but Fridays event I was lowkey hella sad and drained and I thought having the morning to myself was good and sometimes you get intimidated by your own words.

I forget how weird it is to talk about myself and I hate telling anyone how I feel. It’s why I ask everyone a million questions before they ask me because I’m scared I’ll say the wrong thing and people will disappear because it’s happened before. Or people won’t believe me or people will just make assumptions of who they think I am. Being an artist is weird. How you’re perceived and you want to be a thug and not give a shit but you give a shit.

Chillona was a whole process to find glitter and happiness when shit was hurting even until it went off to the printers. It’s hard to revisit the broken parts of yourself. The insecure parts of yourself. The ugly parts you don’t want people to see. Sometimes it’s hard not to make a joke to deflect the pain I feel inside. The times people bet against you. The times people count you out. The times people said they got you and in the end you only got yourself. Writing doesn’t change the outcome it just makes the story prettier to tell. And I didn’t know I still have to fight to prove I could do it.

I have been lucky to have amazing support and love from everyone. And when I tell you I go home at night and cry because of how kind everyone has been—it’s no lie. I am truly grateful.

And for everything else shout out to Lexapro because I have avoided two panic attacks this week!

Sooooooo…Few days break and back at it again in SF on Wednesday! Come give me a hug!

In a span of a week, I released my first full length poetry collection and turned 43! The amount of times I have cried through the Lexapro have been astronomical. So if you see me quiet give a girl a hug cause I am so many emotions. 🤢🤮😷🥴😵😭
