Every tattoo begins long before the first line touches the skin. This project is a journey through Greek mythology and the timeless lessons hidden within it. The first chapter introduces the Goddess Athena, surrounded by ornate Greek keys, symbolizing wisdom, courage, strategy, and the pursuit of truth. Athena reminds us that true strength is not found in power alone, but in knowledge and integrity. The next chapter will bring Medusa to life. Often misunderstood, Medusa represents transformation, resilience, and the ability to turn pain into power. Together, these two figures tell a story of balance, wisdom and emotion, light and shadow, protection and rebirth. As a storyteller, my passion has never been simply creating tattoos. My purpose is to reveal the stories that already live within the souls of my clients. Every piece is a reflection of who they are, where they have been, and the path they continue to walk. Thank you to my amazing client for your trust, your vision, and for allowing me the honor of bringing a part of your inner world to life. It is a privilege I never take for granted. "Great tattoos are not decorations. They are memories, struggles, victories, and dreams given a permanent voice. The skin simply becomes the canvas where the soul finally speaks." 🐙 OCEAN REALISM • COLOR THEORY • FLOW & MOVEMENT After nearly five decades of tattooing, one lesson continues to reveal itself over and over: great tattoos are not just about technique, they're about trust, communication, and understanding the human being behind the artwork. This vibrant octopus sleeve was designed to flow naturally with the anatomy, creating movement, depth, and color harmony from shoulder to wrist. Large-scale tattoos require far more than simply reproducing an image. They demand planning, composition, patience, and an understanding of how a tattoo will live and age with the body. Education never stops. To fellow artists: I firmly believe knowledge should be shared, not protected. If you're passionate about color realism, sleeve composition, flow, or creating tattoos that stand the test of time, don't hesitate to reach out. We all grow when we lift one another up. To my clients: thank you for reminding me that this profession is about much more than art. In the middle of busy schedules and the pressures of everyday life, I've been reminded how important it is to slow down, listen carefully, and never lose sight of the feelings and expectations of the people who place their trust in us. Sometimes, without intending to, we can overlook the very people we care about most. Growth comes from recognizing those moments and becoming better because of them. So thank you for keeping me in check. You deserve more than a tattoo. You deserve experience, communication, attention to detail, compassion, and an artist who truly cares about your story and the longevity of your artwork. Excellence isn't an accident, it is built through dedication, humility, and a lifelong commitment to learning. Thank you for trusting me with your skin and your stories. After 3 incredible years with Metrix, I’ve decided it’s time to answer the call of home 🏠 I’m so proud of everything we created together @joemetrixtattoo & @lorettattoo, thank you for your friendship and partnership. What we built and my time in Melbourne around it? Unforgettable. It’s been a massive 3 years of doing what has become the hyper-focus of my life over the last 9: making cool shit for my people and friends, tattooers. Every single one of you and the entire tattoo community fucking inspire me.
