Chasing a dream? You need one person in your support system who holds the door open when you’re too tired to hold it yourself… not a cheerleader, a doorstop or a book mark in your story. Someone who asks “whatever happened with that?” You know casually, like it’s still a real thing and just by asking, hands the dream back to you. This week I’m tagging mine so they know I see them. This is a reminder to tell “your book marks “those people who show up for you how much they mean to you.

I love the city don’t get me wrong but there something about stepping out of the city this time of year. The small-town streets, the market stalls, (dad would have loved all the wood working) the quiet craftsmanship, real attention to detail and the sweet small talk while pouring coffee. See it all feels like the holidays I grew up with in Shallow Lake and Owen Sound. A little slower and intentional, sweeter like the butter tarts and somehow exactly right.

This was my dad, our dad. He was funny, thoughtful, stubborn, caring, stood up for what was right, loved his family above all else. He loved a spirited conversation and would often take the opposite view from yours to bring out more thoughtfulness in you and to help you find your resolve.
Even though he is no longer here we will celebrate him because we still feel him everyday. I’m so grateful I have this video to hear his voice.
On the hard days I know he is here and on the good days I know he sits back and smiles.
Either way I know, we know we are lucky to have him still watching over our family.
