Last minute pics from VASTA (voice & speech) conference. Julia, Brianne, Lori, Amy, and Zach. And lots of Fitzmaurice folk. Good to be sharing some of my new voice work and hearing new and tried and true work from others. Simply, good to reconnect to a beloved community that I have been a part of for over 30 years!! But have been absent from conversations for too long. Here’s to seeing and meeting w old and new friends. 💙 #vasta #song #voicework #lullabies #dialects

“The twenties, you remember, was a period of parties. Everybody who was anybody, or anybody who hoped to become somebody, threw as many parties as possible…It was a time of boisterous individualism. Everything and everyone whizzed by on an isolated, trackless course. It was a world of fireflies charting itself as a constellation of planets. No matter who you were or what you did, you were thought of in terms that properly belonged to the realm of gangsterdom.” A century later, may these 20’s, too, be prologue to fervent years to come. Here’s looking at you @loritriolo #haroldclurman #fireflies #theog #grouptheatre

A star is born! (#Cataclysmology) On this day in 2011 (in the U.S.), the SciFi/Telefilm Doomsday Prophecy took yet one more look at Earth's impending apocalypse. Written (in part) and directed by Jason Bourque, the feature starred A.J. Buckley, Alan Dale, Jewel Staite, and others. According to our friends at IMDB, here's the plot summary: "Based on the 2012 end-of-world prophecy where two unlikely characters team up to solve a mystery that just might save the world." For this and more SciFi, Fantasy, and Horror trivia, be sure to check out the Daily Citation Page for August 13th on SciFiHistoryNet! (link in bio)

It’s an odd feeling, holding this brand-new @fitzmauricevoicework handbook. Although I haven’t read a single page of it yet, the method already feels so familiar after the recent intensive I enjoyed in NYC. A sincere thank you to Jeff, @juliefoh_voicecoach, @melhousenyc, @loritriolo, @craigmacarthurdolezel, and Katie for sharing your expertise and creating an open environment for exploration. To my fellow participants, thank you for creating an inquisitive and invigorating space for all of us to grow together as voice practitioners and human beings. 🙏 For anyone interested in learning more, check out Catherine Fitzmaurice’s freely published articles (https://www.fitzmauriceinstitute.org/writings). But to viscerally get a sense of it, I recommend an in-person experience as a thorough introduction. I found it invaluable to learn not just by studying the method, but by working through it alongside experienced guides. I’m grateful this was my first intensive experience in over a decade. It marks a clear reintroduction of investing in my creative career after a long chapter of focusing heavily on my operational expertise. I don’t regret developing those skills, but I am deeply excited for the upcoming opportunities ahead to explore and enhance my capacity as a performer and coach in breath, voice, speech, and singing. Now it’s time to “rest and digest” and enjoy the journey of rebuilding my new-and-improved vocal practice - one breath, one sound, and one note at a time. 🌬️🗣🎵

How did this production come together? In the summer of 2023, Vali traveled to New York to train at The Neighborhood Playhouse, the birthplace of the Meisner Technique. That's where she met Lori Triolo- actor, director, and master teacher of the Meisner Technique. Three years later, they're bringing one of the most significant plays of the last 30 years to Nashville together. Some collaborations are just meant to happen. #MeisnerTechnique #NeighborhoodPlayhouse #Honour #NashvilleTheatre #ActorsBridge #LoriTriolo #ValiForrister
