POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Macc Grace wasn’t just part of the Screwed Up Click — he was one of the originals who helped carry DJ Screw’s legacy long after the gray tapes stopped being new. 💙🕊️

Born Charles Grace in Houston, Grace attended Willowridge High School and was serious about baseball before an injury changed his direction. Music eventually became the lane, and through his brother LOS, he found his way into DJ Screw’s circle.

Screw gave him the name Dat Boy Grace, and Grace and LOS became two of the original members of the Screwed Up Click. Both brothers appeared on Screw tapes, including Killuminati, putting their voices inside one of the most important underground movements Houston ever produced.

Grace also formed bonds with DJ Screw and UGK, connecting him to two of the forces that were helping define Texas and Southern rap during the 1990s.

In March 2000, he released From Crumbs to Bricks through Straight Profit. The project featured Houston names including H.A.W.K., Z-Ro and 3-2, and closed with “Come Ride Wit a Playa.” His delivery fit naturally over the slow, heavy Houston production that surrounded the Screw movement.

After later becoming known as Macc Grace, he continued recording and released Guess Who’s Bacc!!! in 2010.

But Grace’s story was bigger than his own catalog.

For years, he traveled from city to city selling Screw music and merchandise and making sure the culture stayed in front of people. Even after DJ Screw was gone, Macc Grace remained committed to representing what Screw built and keeping that history alive.

Macc Grace passed away suddenly in August 2017 at 44 years old, leaving behind a name permanently tied to the original S.U.C. family.

Some people were around the movement. Macc Grace helped carry the movement. 💙

Did Macc Grace get enough credit for his role in S.U.C. history? 🤔
