What I served: a perfectly tailored white oxford shirt and a big scarf as my spring uniform and the vanity bag I bought from my trip to Manila in June

What I was served: my favourite Italian in Vulcan Lane @amodomio_nz has such a lowkey vibe, good food at very good prices, and 10/10 service and vibes. The carbonara is always a hit

What served me: Catching the train and getting off at a new station I’ve not been to before and walking out to a good view of Queen St, looking up at buildings, a solo coffee date @receptionist_official where I unintentionally matched the vibe with my outfit, a trip to my fave bookstore @unitybooksauckland, an afternoon spent with my best friend and people watching and writing in my little notepad and thinking about what a privilege it is to have designed my life in a way that makes me truly happy

What I was served: The most incredible dinner at Angeline. A restaurant so impossibly chic and underrated they don’t even have their own Instagram and they’re only open Thurs - Sat. This deserves a separate review so will write about that but for now here’s a sneak peek!

What served me: @na_teatua suggested “what served me” as part of this series and I loved it so much so thank you for letting me incorporate this into the series! What served me was finding joy in trying out a new eye makeup look (shade Kylee and Storm from the @kyleedethier x @xobeautyshop palette), finding my perfect nude lip, an evening spent with my friend @avawardecki where we get to really talk and spend quality time together, and the rain falling while driving past my favourite part of the city at night was quite magical!

An exhibition of bespoke collars by 60 select makers’ hands from across Aotearoa opens tomorrow at @hardcorepublic on Karangahape Rd.

Presented during @nzfashionwk, this exhibition brings together a group of makers, each responding to THE COLLAR as both object and adornment.
Every piece reflects an individual practice while contributing to a shared narrative celebrating craftsmanship, process, and the enduring value of making by hand.

Suspended together as a single installation, the collars become a portrait of contemporary making in NZ, revealing the richness of material exploration, technical skill and creative expression.

For one night only, with a drink on entry if desired, kindly supplied by Pegasus Bay Wines & Wilder Tinctures

I took a photo of this wall today. You might think it’s just a wall but to me it’s the wall that started this chapter of my life. In one of those groovy cosmic full circle moments, I found myself near this wall today while on a special PR trip for fashion week.

This wall is right by my old office when I used to have a big corporate job. It’s the wall I’ve gotten to know well since moving to Auckland in 2017! I would take my outfit photos here as often as I can throughout the week, asking whoever colleague is available or on a smoke break nearby to kindly please take my photo. This wall has seen the evolution of my style. This wall has served as the backdrop to my outfit pics for many many years. I haven’t really taken a pic in this wall since I started doing content creation full time in 2021 but I found myself here today.

It feels like coming home. Returning to myself, to my roots. I mentioned the other day that I’m doing fashion week a little differently this time around. Will share more of that soon as well as what I got up to today because it has been so special.

When I was looking back on my posts from 8 years ago and saw the same names and people liking and commenting on those posts who still like and comment on my posts now, I realised how lucky I am to have built such a sold community. Thank you for being part of it!

During those stressful, tough corporate days, my escape was daydreaming what it would be like to be a creative full time. I didn’t know how to do it. I felt like an outsider who could never be part of fashion because of many reasons (POC, fat girl amongst other things!). To be able to do this now and to have more people in this community grow alongside me is truly surreal. This is a love letter to 2017 - 2021 me. Girl, we made it! And it’s even better than you dreamed of!
