There wasn’t that much on the line as all four Pro-class championships were locked in at the previous round, but the racing was still fun to watch at the 100s Motorcycle Club’s 56th Annual California National Hare & Hound, the sixth and final round of the AMA Hare & Hound National Championship Series, Presented by FMF. Now a three-time overall series champ, Dalton Shirey @dalton_shirey46 closed out his schedule with yet another win. An inspired ride to second saw Zane Roberts @zane851roberts sew up second in points while new Pro 250 champ Clayton Roberts @clayton_roberts (no relation) stepped up to a 450 for the first time in the series to prep for it full time next year and nabbed third. The two champs celebrated with a double podium burnout. With the younger Roberts going to 450s, Nic Colangeli @n_colangeli151 got his first Pro 250 victory. With over 450 hours on his bike, it probably deserves to be retired. Andrew Puckett @afastandy completed his sweep of Pro Vet 35+ at the finale, a laudable feat indeed. And in Pro Women, Ty Woolslayer @tywoolslayer813 finally got on top of the box after a long string of lesser podium finishes after now double champ Rachel Stout @rachel.stout.112 had to abandon the race with a knee injury. A surprise entrant was 2015 champ Ivan Ramirez @ivanramirez450 in his first National since 2016! Having spent the interim battling Lyme Dr, he simply wanted to finish the 100 miles and he did that in fine fashion, placing fifth Open Pro and seventh overall. Among a large Youth contingent, Charlie Nute’s @charlie_101f third in Girls 12-15 was sufficient to claim that championship over race winner and friendly rival Hayley Fleming @hayley_137e . When they lined up for Women C on Sunday, though, Fleming’s runner-up behind Nute gave her the title by one point! Saturday night saw trick-or-treating, costumes and the best haunted trailers in the desert in anticipation of Halloween next week. Look for a final 2024 schedule in the near future and join the fun next year! @nhharacing @fmf73 @ama_racing #hareandhoundracing #desertracing #realoffroad #dirtbikes #moto #lucernevalley #johnsonvalleyohv #champions @cyclenews @dirtbikemag
