We’ve been working on a new concept! ⁠
⁠
Catering and private cheffing are big parts of our work already but sometimes clients want a sort of hybrid situation where we’re both cooking on site and bringing already cooked dishes from our restaurant. We’re working out the logistics and had the opportunity to test run at the LARC journalism summit earlier this month where we provided lunch for 100+ food writers as an in-kind sponsor.⁠ (The incredible tacos you see were by fellow Regarding Her member @LosTaqueroMucho.)

The design is a scoop station, à la Chipotle/Panda Express style, but we are also grilling on site and sometimes using the wok so the food is kitchen-fresh and super quick. From bell to bell, our rush period at this event was 39 minutes and total serving time was 51 when including the folks who trickled in after the crowd. At our peak speed, we were able to serve guests a customized hot delicious bowl in less than 30 seconds. ⁠

Collaboration is a big part of how @lareportingcollective does its work, working with orgs across Los Angeles to support our educational programming - including @regardingherfood 🌟 Our friends at Regarding Her supported last week’s LARC Food Media Summit by providing lunch for 150 journalists, storytellers and creators. Through their partners at @ayarathai and @lostaqueromucho attendees got a delicious sampling of the women-owned restaurants Regarding Her champions. After the meal, Chef Silvia Garcia and Executive Director Niki Weber joined for a conversation with Danny O’Malley (Chef’s Table), giving attendees the chance to hear directly from people working to foster community in LA’s food scene 💕 Thanks to @lumierelosangeles & @tiffanymorgan for bringing this special collab together

WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT!
We’ve selected Los Taquero Mucho (@lostaqueromucho) as our SIXTH & FINAL WINNER of Project: Small Biz Montebello! Congratulations to them! 👏

Owner and chef, Miguel Garcia started Los Taquero Mucho in 2019 as a pop-up in front of Angry Horse Brewery in Montebello, fusing Mexican 🇲🇽 & Guatemalan 🇬🇹 flavors into their food. In 2021, they moved to their current spot at BLVD MRKT and created their specialty tacos that we all love today.

Miguel appreciates all the support he and his wife have received from the community and they enjoy serving up everyone’s favorite tacos.

After meeting with Miguel, we agreed that he could benefit from branded merch & food packaging, along with a few ad campaigns. We’ll be providing this service to him free of charge! That’s a $2,000 value!

Stay tuned to our socials where we’ll be sharing highlights of our design process with Los Taquero Mucho, then posting the big reveal once the merch & packaging items are designed. Stay tuned!
