FAIR HISTORY SnowBowl and Marshall ski patrols realized that young-sters would be learning to ski each year with ill-fitting, hand-me-down equipment. They held the first ski swap in 1968 in the basement of a bank. The swap grew and moved to the fairgrounds, moved to Adams Center and now is held at Big Sky High School and due to Covid-19 is back at the fairgrounds. 2018 marked the 50th annniversary sale. Our mission is promoting family outside recreation of skiing, boarding and other outdoor winter sports. #montana #ski #snowboarding #prayforsnow #powder

Who else is excited to see the mountains getting dressed in lace? These crisp fall mornings have me ready for snow and all the fun that comes with it. Currently Working on some fresh porcelain travel cups for the @losttrailskiarea gift shop for the upcoming ski/snowboard season. Perfect for your morning coffee on the drive up, or a beer in the lodge, these hand thrown, hand painted porcelain travel cups are the perfect way to rep your local mountain. With the chair 4 trail map, and iconic yurt, share your love for Lost Trail this winter. Not sure why the latex pulled off my underglaze this round, so I'll have to retouch everything tonight after work. #castawayceramics #peeling #satisfying #ski #snowboard

How I used to train stay vs how I train it now.💡 Over the past couple of years of training Skadi, we have been very fortunate to attend several professional dog trainings with other ski areas and organizations such as @mtavydogs @cradavalancherescue @bridgerbowl @schweitzer.avydogs etc. We have learned so much over the years and couldn’t be more grateful for the experiences! 👏 One training we went to, a patroller was giving a lecture on lessons he’s learned and something he mentioned was he couldn’t get his dog to stay. The dog was an excellent listener, very well trained, but he just wouldn’t stay like he was supposed to. What the patroller realized was that he had trained his dog to stay, would walk away, and then call the dog over to where he was standing. It’s not that the dog didn’t want to stay, the dog had just learned that the reward actually came when he broke the stay. “Reward the behavior you want to see”. It’s such a small example of something we have learned to do differently as handlers, but there are countless other small examples that have added up as we have gotten the opportunity to train Amity. Skadi is setting a great example as a big sister, and we’re so excited to have a chance to train a new little avy pup. 💕 Get ready @losttrailskiarea @losttrailskipatrol - winter is coming and these guys are ready for it! ❄️🎿🐾

He should fare well at the fair youth baking division with these sourdough doughnuts, with a caramel glaze. All from scratch and made by him. Thanks @sarahfrigginhamilton for the recipe a couple years back. Proud of this guys baking skills and interest.
