What I hear whilst working as a makeup artist! Follow @madeupbylynsey for more. . "I don't want to look cakey" "Please don't make me look like a drag queen" 😬 "I can see some creases under my eyes" "I don't want lashes like a cow" "Can you get rid of my wrinkles?" "Is it my turn next?" 🙄 (Male family member) "Will my lipstick last all day?" . Now, whilst some of these points are valid! Perhaps we need to manage expectations - No a lipstick will not last all day, especially through eating, drinking and kissing, creases are completely normal, and unfortunately, we cannot eliminate wrinkles! Sorry! We also need to consider how we phrase our words, so instead of saying you dont want to look cakey, maybe explain you prefer a lightweight foundation rather than full coverage. As an artist, I've heard it all, probably 100 times, and I luckily do not take offence, but I do sometimes roll my eyes deep inside 😄 . If you have seen my work, please show me someone who is 'caked' or with 'extreme' lashes . It's not my style, so it's highly unlikely I would start! Remember, we are professionals.
