As we close out 2025, we would like to take a moment to reflect on what has truly been a landmark year for Lotus 8.

This year, we solidified our place in Rocket League qualifying twice for the RLCS NA Regional Main Stage and establishing ourselves as a Top 10 Rocket League organisation in North America. We also made history for Manitoba by qualifying for the Call of Duty: WSOW Global Finals 2025, representing Canada as the only Canadian organisation on the world stage competing for 1 Million USD, competing against 49 international teams in Las Vegas this October 1st. Thank you to CTV Winnipeg, CTV Nationals, Winnipeg Sun and Virgin Radio 103.1 for covering our story!

Beyond competition, we continued to build impact. We successfully completed our 2025 Manitoba First Nation Wellness Tour in partnership with MFNERC-Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre, with expansion continuing into 2026.

Receiving Manitoba Government support for our PMM (Performance Mindset & Mindfulness) Program to help us scale our program, was a major milestone that further validated the work we’re doing in youth development, wellness, performance, competition and education as we now scale nationally in 2026. We have created new PMM arms that tie into mental health for 2026 to further our support within youths and educational systems.

From a production and events standpoint, we hosted 20+ Canada-wide Esports events, in person tournaments, in person activation's, Monthly online tournaments and including one of the largest Call of Duty Warzone Pro-Am tournament the scene has seen.

We were also proud to collaborate with traditional sports orgs such as the CEBL Championship, Winnipeg Sea Bears, Winnipeg Jets, and Manitoba Moose, continuing to bridge Esports and mainstream sport in meaningful ways.

This year was busy. It was demanding. And it was incredibly rewarding.
We are deeply grateful for our co-owners, Investors, Management team, Media team, PMM Coaches, Tier 1 players, Partners at Telus Canada, Scholastics Partners at MSEA , Content Creators, Students, Community and so many more. None of this happens without the trust, belief, and collective effort of everyone involved.

Movement is Medicine - a theme that came up throughout our time together at the 2025 Sport Event Forum and one that really resonates with me personally.

Honoured to have shared the stage with so many inspiring folks this past week and excited for what's next as we look towards 2026 and all the exciting opportunities to welcome athletes from across the world to our city!

At the end of June, I had the chance to meet with the Winnipeg Sea Bears to explore an Esport Canada activation for the CEBL Championship Fan Fest. It happened to be my last week at my old job, right before transitioning into a completely new industry but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to build a meaningful crossover between sport and esports.

With only a concept in mind, I reached out to one of the most brilliant post-graduate students I’ve ever met to help shape the vision, and quickly brought on a local partner to bring it to life. If there's one thing the esports industry is good at, it's the ability to turn out a great product in a short amount of time, and this activation was no exception.

Sneesha from TMU was masterful in the concepts, activities, strategies, and graphics she created for this event; constantly blowing us all away with her ingenuity.
Emil, my go-to advisor and mentor, eagerly helped problem-solve, ideate, and adapt with the experience of a true esports vet.
Steven and Lotus 8 lined up key sponsors (thank you ASUS Canada and Telus), volunteers, Twitch community engagement, tournament organization, content creation and event logistics with professionalism and business acumen to ensure our work intentionally created the KPIs and engagement that aligned to each partner's goals.

The professionalism, creativity, and resourcefulness from this group was nothing short of inspiring.

While the weather may not have been to our advantage this weekend, witnessing folks of all ages light up when they saw NBA 2K not just at home but in an environment where their favourite sport and game cultures were openly valued and celebrated, seeing folks with different abilities be able to actively participate and not just spectate, seeing kids design sneakers and jerseys and test their physical skills as part of an esports experience... It was like no other.

This activation reminded me why crossovers like these matter. Both sports and esports can thrive when we create spaces that value community, inclusivity, and shared passion. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
