This is my first post in English
This is the film I have been waiting for the English dub for the longest time, and my wait was right
I really liked the participating voices
Like Louie Radje Buchanan and Evie Kiszel who were a more than wonderful duo
And Jeremy Swift and his amazing performance as Beeting
And Ruby Branhill, who I was happy to participate in again after Mary and the Witch's Flower, and whose voice is similar to Japanese actress Hana Sugisaki.
I really liked the English texts, which gave me the feeling that I was watching an English animated film and not a Japanese anime.
Finally, thanks to all the staff and Studio Ponoc

The best parts of #theimaginary are when it embraces the darkness of reality. The #studioghibli roots show (which isn’t a bad thing) in this new animated film from #studioponoc 🔗 in bio!

Studio Ponoc’s dreamy animation “The Imaginary” is set to debut July 5 on Netflix. Directed by Yoshiyuki Momose and written and produced by Yoshiaki Nishimura, the film narrates the tale of an imaginary character named Rudger (@louierudgebuchanan , envisioned by a young girl named Amanda (voiced by the talented @evie.kiszel ) in a time of need. The meticulously hand-drawn animation and the storyline, is based on the award-winning novel by author and poet A.F. Harrold. I had the opportunity to screen the film at Netflix and listen to a Q&A session with producer Nishimura who shared insights on the film. Having watched the film “The Imaginary” for the second time, my love and appreciation for the film has only grown stronger! Read my Q&A coverage on the blog! I also reviewed the film a couple of weeks ago. #studioponoc #studioghibli #anime #theimaginary

Described as “an unforgettable adventure of love, loss, and the healing power of imagination,” the film is adapted from the novel of the same name written by A.F. Harrold and illustrated by Emily Gravett. It follows the story of Amanda and her imaginary companion, Rudger, a boy no one can see imagined by Amanda to share her make-believe fantasies. But when Rudger, suddenly alone, arrives at The Town of Imaginaries, where forgotten Imaginaries live and find work, he faces a mysterious threat.

The Imaginary is directed by Yoshiyuki Momose, a Studio Ghibli veteran who storyboarded, animated, and served other roles on films such as Grave of the Fireflies, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away. Momose also directed the “Life Ain’t Gonna Lose” segment in Ponoc’s anthology film Modest Heroes, as well as the studio’s official Olympics short Tomorrow’s Leaves. He directed the feature NiNoKuni released in 2019.

Studio Ponoc was established in 2015 by former Studio Ghibli producer Yoshiaki Nishimura, a two-time Oscar-nominated producer for The Tale of the Princess Kaguya and When Marnie Was There.

The English dub of the The Imaginary includes Louie Rudge-Buchanan, Evie Kiszel, Hayley Atwell, Sky Katz, Jeremy Swift, Kal Penn, LeVar Burton, Jane Singer, Ruby Barnhill, Roger Craig Smith, Courtenay Taylor, Miles Nibbe, Ian James Corlett, A.F. Harrold, Cassandra Lee Morris, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Christopher Swindle, Fred Tatasciore, and Kari Wahlgren.
