This Sunday 11/2 @smorgasburgla we pause to honor and remember Juan a kind soul, a devoted husband, and a true part of the Lei’d Cookies family. 💛 Juan and his wife were the heartbeat of our back-of-house team. From the very beginning of our brick-and-mortar journey, the husband-and-wife duo scooped every single cookie that made its way to you. For a year and a half, their love and dedication were baked into everything we created every cookie you’ve tasted has been touched by their hearts. Around the time we began expanding and building a new team, Juan fell ill. His passing, and his wife’s move back to Mexico, left a deep void but also a powerful reminder of what truly matters: the people who make this place what it is. Through this loss, we’ve been inspired to do better to build stronger bonds within our team, to share more meals, to include everyone in our journey, and to remind each person how essential they are to this family. At Smorgasburg this Día de los Muertos, we honor Juan not only through remembrance, but through action by celebrating community, sharing food, and embracing the shared struggles and joys that connect us all. His spirit lives on in the laughter of our kitchen, the hands that bake with care, and the community that continues to grow around love, resilience, and togetherness.
