This past Friday I graduated from residency. It’s hard to put into words all the emotions I’m feeling, but above all, I am grateful…

To a loving God who has answered many tearful prayers and to a Savior who has carried me countless times these past three years.

To my two grandmothers who were here at my graduation, representing my departed grandpas and all of my family/friends who have been cheering me on from afar.

To my parents who worked so hard to give me this opportunity, who taught me in childhood to dream big. This was my childhood dream, and it has come to fruition.
And to my siblings for their support and love. And my favorite nephew. Thank you for coming to Texas, Baby Toa!

To my in-laws who have joined my village and added their support from Alaska, Hawaii, Utah, and Australia. Thank you, Neni and Jeff/Steph, for being here this weekend. It means a lot.

To my two children who make my often-exhausting job so worth it. As much as I love what I do in the hospital, I would choose Daddy over Doctor any day.

And to my wife who is the best companion I could’ve ever hoped for. I’ve had some overwhelming and depressing and lonely days these past few years, and you have been there to hold me up in all of those moments of weakness. You’ve made “my” journey “yours”, and I can’t thank you enough for your sacrifices. I love you to infinity.

In short, it may be my name alone that will appear on the diploma. But make no mistake; this was a village effort. To all of you in my village, thank you!

Happiest 26th the new 18 baybay birthday to you! The words cannot be explained of how much I love you💕 we endured so much and will continue to progress!
