my love note to Maya 🤍

How blessed am I to have a friend so near and dear to me who not only sees my vision, but is willing to push herself outside of her comfort zone to be a part of it. When I first asked Maya if she would be my model for the Frankie Exhibit, she was unsure. And honestly, I completely understood why. Walking in front of so many people, being under the spotlight, and having every moment photographed and videoed is no small thing, especially when it means putting yourself out there in a way you might not normally be comfortable with.

But there was something about Maya that made her so perfect for what I wanted to portray. The dimension and versatility that exists in being a brunette, but also the balance of power and softness that I wanted this look to embody. And beyond how beautifully she brought that vision to life, I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter, kinder human being to share this experience with. Maya has such a genuine heart, and she is one of those people who makes you feel lucky just to know her. She is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, and I hope she knows how much that shines through.

Maya, thank you for all the time and dedication you put into working with me, @salon.frankie, @heatherpretty_ & @bmcelheran to bring our collaboration to life. Thank you for trusting me with your hair, for giving me the freedom to be creative, and for being so open to whatever I had dreamed up. Most of all, thank you for encouraging me through the stressful moments, for believing in what I was trying to create, and for being willing to step outside your comfort zone to support something that meant so much to me.

I feel so lucky to have had you by my side for this, and even luckier to call you my friend. I love you, and I hope you know how deeply appreciated you are. 🫶🏻🤍

Wow… this night 🥲 I can’t believe I haven’t shared these pictures yet, but I literally feel grief every time I look at them LOL.

On a day like today, Thanksgiving, I found myself reflecting on my life and just how much I have to be thankful for. And, of course, I found myself thinking about Frankie. I genuinely don’t think I’ll ever be able to put into words how lucky I feel to be a part of something so magical. When I first started here, I remember constantly thinking, “I can’t believe this is my job. I can’t believe I got here. I can’t believe I get to be surrounded by these talented people every day.” I truly couldn’t believe I had been given this opportunity.

But I also want to give myself a little credit. Because somewhere along the way, “I can’t believe I get to be here” has slowly turned into “I can believe it, because I’m learning that I have what it takes.” And that feeling is something I’m really proud of. I thank myself for never giving up on me. For pushing through the days when doing hair felt discouraging, and for continuing to show up for myself even when I wasn’t sure I had the confidence it was going to take. Frankie has truly made me believe you really can do anything you put your mind to. I’m more confident, more joyful, and more ME than I’ve ever been, and for that, I will be forever THANKFUL.

ALSO Something I’ve been reminding myself lately is that just because I’m more comfortable in my skills and in who I am, doesn’t mean I ever want to stop growing. I want to work hard, keep learning, keep upgrading my skills and myself, and love people HARD. I want to keep being kind, making everyone who sits in my chair feel beautiful, and creating a life that feels bigger and more beautiful than anything I could’ve imagined for myself.

Nights like this remind me how lucky I am to be here, but also how proud I am of the girl who got herself here. I am thankful for Frankie, for the people who make it what it is, and for all the magic that comes with being a part of it. CHEERS TO THE BEST NIGHT EVA 🥂❤️⭐️
