We were all smiles on our 2nd annual Women’s Writer’s Conference. Last year, there were 8 of us. This year there were 11. We gathered in a cozy home in the Catskills. We set goals for ourselves, we embraced nature, and we gave ourselves permission to do what we needed to move forward in our writing. Some of worked on our novels, others on their poetry collections or non-fiction projects. This year our biggest lesson was to give ourselves grace. To not let writing become a chore, but to remember why we do it in the first place.

Interested in attending our next conference? Applications will open in January 2027!

i must say i am truly having a time on this herbalism journey.

i know it will be a life long one, but i am so proud of myself for taking the steps to pair my personal practice and ancestral knowledge with other forms of education.

at the end of the day, i am and always will be a writer. so it was important for me to showcase the duality and ways i still prioritize all sides of myself even when fulfilling my writer duties.

what else should i share about my herbalism journey?!

every reflect & reground session closes out with three deep cleansing breaths (maybe more if we need it)

i created this offering when i realized that the yoga and wellness space was largely becoming about fitness, sweating and who can hold a plank the longest (don’t get it twisted…i love me a good plank)

reflect & reground is an invitation for us to slow down, reflect on our inner thoughts and reground our nervous systems.

so bring your journal, something comfy to sit on and enter into the @ourinnerroot Oasis 🌳

upcoming sessions:

• 9/13 { 11am — 12pm }
• 9/23 {7pm — 8pm }
• 9/30 {7pm — 8pm }

seasons thrive under varying circumstances. while they embody respective qualities, there is still something worth appreciating & to gain in each one

autumn: signifies release. showing us that as easily as things may bloom during the Spring & Summer, the state of our lives is not necessarily permanent. we also will still have a chance at new life during the next go round

winter: reminds us that all fruitful entities and forms of energy still need a resting and recuperation period. you may not see anything blooming on top, but best believe those trees are still solid & rooted into the ground

spring: rebirth — is cyclical. no matter the prior occurrences, we’ll always have another chance to become anew. it’s that simple.

summer: work hard, playyyy harder! rejoice! naturally a warmer season, we stretch, we expand, we grow. welcome the abundance. bask in it until autumn gently nudges us to slow down again 🍂

our inner root is grounded within the pillars of:
🌿reflection 🌿movement 🌿 community

so it’s only right we continue to immerse ourselves and continue our studies locally!

@aquaya___ and @greaternewarknj so graciously hosted a free community event in early preparation for the Summer season! we learned which herbs can help cool us down for the Summer, what to expect considering the impacts of climate change and different ways to implement herbal remedies into our routines! 🫶🏾

yall know we LOVE grounding in nature over here, so it was a plus to also enjoy an outdoor portion of the workshop AND close out with breath work! 🥹 honorable mention: receiving a box full of local fresh produce from the community fridge! 🫶🏾
