In memory of Ally Moore 🩵
Continuing to share Ally’s story and let her light shine by bringing awareness to mental health and suicide prevention
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I shared this story tonight at church and am feeling a push to share it here. 💘

A year ago, yesterday, I was sitting in Newk’s with my wedding planner, my mom, and my mother in law, when I got the news that my sweet friend Ally Moore went to be with Jesus.

I was in complete shock and tears, so we decided to cut our meeting short. As we were walking out, these two lovely women stopped me and offered me a matching handmade bracelet and necklace from their small business.

That small, unexpected act of kindness has stayed with me ever since. It reminds me how God places people in our path at the exact moment we need them most, and how such a small gesture can make the heaviest moment feel a little lighter. Ally had that same gift of loving people well without even trying.

The necklace has been hanging from my rearview mirror ever since that day. Every time I see it, I’m reminded of her compassion, her smile, her hugs, her laugh, everything that made Ally, Ally. I’m so grateful the Lord gave me something special to remember her by, a daily reminder of my sweet friend Ally Moore.

As for the bracelet, I wore it constantly. One night, while leading worship at a youth service, I felt a strong urge to share Ally’s story with the students. What I didn’t know was that one student had just been released from the hospital after weeks of fighting for her life, after trying to take it herself. The Lord allowed me to pray with this student and hold her at the altar. I knew this girl wasn’t Ally, but I held her like she was, it was how I would hug Ally, if Jesus gave me one more chance to.

That night, I gave the student the bracelet as a reminder that even on our hardest days, there is still hope. There is still purpose. And there will always be Jesus. I miss you Ally girl every. single. day, and I will never stop sharing your story and I will never stop loving Moore loudly. 🤍

it’s been 365 days since i last talked to you, and it still feels just as impossible as it did 365 days ago.

social media isn’t something i thought i’d be sharing these moments of my life with, but if anything, Ally taught me the importance of sharing the hard parts too, even when they’re heavy to share.

we used to stay up late talking about the excitement of the future: being in each others weddings, guessing what our future husbands would be like, hoping our kids would be best friends too, careers and everything in between. now as i picture those moments i would’ve told her, i instead write them down in a notebook, in hopes that Heaven isn’t too far for you to read it from.

grief is the price we pay for love. and it’s a price id pay over and over again if it meant i had you. i still talk about you like you’re just running late. so many times i’ve picked up my phone to call you for advice i know only you could give. moments i just needed a big. friends i’ve had to lean on that were just who i needed, even when they were hurting, grieving and had problems of their own— things i know not only have i faced in this past year without her, but countless others too.

if you ever feel like the world is better without you in it, i can say with every shattered part of me that nothing could be further from the truth than that. we say it’ll all be okay in the end, so if you don’t feel okay right now, know it’s not the end.

i write pieces of this ache not for myself, but for the 1 in 5. if that’s you, i hope these words reach the places you’ve never said out loud. i hope they remind you that your story is still needed here.

to anyone hurting- my heart truly goes out to you. to anyone who had the chance to know Ally- my heart aches alongside you today. to anyone else who’s lost a best friend- keep going, not because it’s easy, but that their love gave you a reason to.

because of our savior Jesus Christ, i can find comfort in knowing death is not the end. what separates us now, one day will no longer, and on that day, i hope you’re up there waiting, because i’ve got a notebook full of stories i’ve been waiting to tell you, ally. i miss you.
