Dr. Obari Cartman, father, clinical and community psychologist, author, international speaker, and wellness advocate is celebrating fatherhood by realizing how powerful a father’s influence can be on his family.

His son shares that belief that a father should ignite their children and be a mentor to guide them to where they want to be in their lives.

Interestingly enough, I attended a talk at the Chicago Maritime Museum this past Friday and learned that Dr. Cartman is the Vice President of the Midwest Underground Railroad Network where I learned that the Chicago played a huge role along the Freedom Seekers Journey.

Thank you Dr. Cartman for our conversation and continuing the route to help people and communities become free with their health and wellbeing.

Hello Hello! We are here at Real Men Cooks’s 37th Anniversary with Franklin Cosey Gay, the Executive Community Director of External Affairs for University of Chicago Medicine’s Urban Health Initiative.

They are celebrating their 24th anniversary when First Lady Michelle Obama held the same position and created the Day of Service and Reflection (DOSAR) where their staff can serve and be more present in the community.

Every three years they conduct a Community Health Needs assessment to focus on chronic diseases, social determinants to health, and trauma resiliency.

You can learn more about what First Lady Michelle Obama started and what Franklin Cosey Gay is leading by following UChicago Medicine’s Urban Health Initiative below.
