We had so much fun at The Mane Event for Sound Equine Options. Made lots of new friends. Supported a good cause and ate a slice of $4000 cake 🍰. Omg. We didn’t buy the cake. But thank you all for sharing and supporting such a great cause Sound Equine Options. #tamarindranch

March was a whirlwind, in the best and busiest way. So many speaking engagements and opportunities to share my perspective, which I don’t take for granted.

Leadership can be tough and nonstop, but I feel really grateful to be doing this work alongside such an amazing team, board, consultants, and in strong coalition.

Even with how heavy things feel right now, I truly believe we will come out stronger. Feeling especially grounded by my family, who remind me why I do this work, and so much love for the friends who have become chosen family along the way ❤️

Last week, @immigrantsrising was proud to participate in Fresno State’s Dream Week. Our entrepreneurship team spent weeks preparing students through our Entrepreneurship Academy on ImmigrantBizHub, ensuring they were ready to pitch their ideas for cash prizes at the competition. Five students bravely and energetically shared their ventures and received thoughtful feedback from judges. We are especially grateful to our judges Juan Carranza, Cathy Castillo, Diana Rea Flores and Ismael Herrera for taking time out of their busy schedules to support these emerging entrepreneurs.

I was deeply grateful to deliver the closing keynote for the week. Fresno State holds a special place in my journey. I attended from 2005 to 2009 as an undocumented student and was fortunate to be part of the Smittcamp Family Honors College. At that time, there was far less awareness and support for undocumented students, and I remain incredibly grateful to the faculty and staff who supported me along the way.

In my keynote, I shared a message close to my heart. Our immigration status does not define us. It can shape us, strengthen us, and move us forward. We have the power to dream, build, and thrive on our own terms!

Thank you to @fresnostatedsc for your partnership, your leadership, and for creating spaces where our community can be seen, supported, and celebrated ❤️

Last weekend we celebrated my dad’s 60th birthday! I shared some words about the close connections to my father around music, math and social justice. I’ve truly blessed to have such a wonderful father. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate!
