Music has always been more than entertainment. It can tell the truth. It can preserve history. It can bring people together. And sometimes it can move somebody from simply hearing something to actually doing something. That’s part of what we’re building with David Jonathan & The Inner City Bedlam. We want you to dance. We want you to sing. We want you to have a good time. But we also want you to leave thinking. Because the music is part of the work. Keep the Revolution Optimistic. ✊🏿 #OptimisticRevolution #InnerCityBedlam #MusicWithAMessage #BuffaloMusic #DavidJonathan

BELATED, BUT SUPER SAPPY LONG, BUT NECESSARY POST COMING YOUR WAY IN 3. 2. 1. . . . Okay as I await for more photos I am trying to take in this moment. Glad to have organized this special event with some prevalent members of both Buffalo's hiphop community and the spoken word/poetry slam community! All for fundraising for our team and myself of course as we both head to Orlando to represent our city in the 34th It's a full circle having this event on Memorial Day Weekend, when I still remember my 20 something year old self, rocking my tucchus off to a cramped kitchen storage corner of Riot Grrl Punk, hard-core and death metal bands and then mid-concert breathers in the backlot. I wanna thank my former life coach, mentor, and fam, Joseph Tosto who celebrated his birthday watching us get in this work. I want to thank all of the artists and poets who came out! So proud to see a brand new team of poets who i have seen blossom into their own voices! @myperspective79 @seventhfacade @the.galactic.griot As well on that team is my mentor and forever frigging capn @bwilliamsonpoet aye aye capn! Not to mention Pure Ink emeritus @yamilla_tate_writer and @dallastaylori spit enough fire to make the sun jealous Thankful to @jezeb_oi and @operation.infinity who did so much to make this happen, @_fredhead on beats @genecist84 @kelzkilher @rmses.ii @zzbumble @m.o.w._music @soularwar for coming through that evening and showcasing what Buffalo's Hip Hop scene HAS BEEN DOING! I want to thank everyone who cam through to spectate and support the vendors btw be sure to check Gencist's new album "Smooth sailin" on bandcamp and be sure to check out this baked goods at @itsokcupcake I lastly want to thank Greg, Nora, and Area 54 for allowing us this space that is so near and dear to my happy-go-lucky heart ❤️ much love . . . HOWEVER!!!!!!! If you missed it... This Wednesday, June 3rd at 6:30pm @emteacoffeecup i will be hosting and featuring a POP UP PWYC FUNDRAISER OPEN MIC, featuring: @vrhodesosi & @ashley_m_hardy8800 I will also have chapbooks for sale. As a Teaching Artist @buffaloartsstudio I see firsthand how vital access to creative education, gallery and studio classroom space is. BAS supports artists at every stage while building a strong and connected community. For Live on Five, I donated a range of works—cut down from larger, unfinished pieces and developed until each miniature visual world revealed itself. Heeeeellllllllooooo says the butterfly. Take a look online or at the gallery NOW and find the piece that draws you in, THEN play the game and place that bid! Your support sustains the art education, space, and programs that make places like Buffalo Arts Studio possible. Along with making me happy that you will be taking home a new cherished local artwork made by me or any other wonderful maker! So….please bid on these I posted… so I don’t end up bidding against you on the other works I’ve got my eye on. Muahahaha Last time i did a buy now for a @garysczerbaniewiczart #LiveOnFive #BuffaloArtsStudio #BuffaloArtScene #SupportBuffaloArts #WNYArts

Last Wednesday @robinleejordan headlined WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE at @the_caffe_elmwood and brought a multimodal set that touched our ears, our eyes, and laced music and community all into a single feature. The final poem, showcased in the audio of the video, was created by the entire audience and collected during the reading. Find us next month when we feature @lperiod Thanks as always to @asiwny & @nyscouncilonthearts for making this programming possible. #poetrynightbflo #poetryreel #poetryreels #poetryreading #poetryreadings #multimodal #buffalonewyork #buffalony716
