An almost two-week vacation still didn’t stop me from finding some very good eats in #rvadine this month.

@pizzabonesrva only offers calzones on Mondays and Wednesdays, and these big beauties are absolutely worth planning around. Bonus: the whole-grain crust holds up shockingly well as leftovers. I also squeezed in one last taste of summer with that peach pie.

Coquilles Saint-Jacques at @beaucouprva were creamy, cozy and right for easing into fall, if we must. And at sister spot @petitfour_rva, just order the quiche of the day. Whatever it is. Midday @jardin_rva / Petit Four vibes might also be the closest thing we have to a French café in #rva.

More comfort: penne with peas and Gorgonzola sauce at @bacchusrva—tangy, homey and generous enough for multiple meals.

Still clearly missing France, I made my way to @idlehandsbread. The sourdough pastries always hit, and this potato version was especially satisfying. Also, while I did not conduct a proper Paris canelé investigation, the Idle Hands texture beat anything I tried abroad.

The popcorn chicken at @libertypublichouse is also a sleeper hit: just $5 during happy hour, it’s perfect for snacking and comes with two house-made dipping sauces.

@moorestreetcafe, when they’re on their A-game, absolutely nails classic breakfast. I especially love how finely they chop the omelet fillings.

At @littlemexicorva, I went with the crispy taquitos, but I’m already plotting a return for the new brunch menu. Whatever you order, get the homemade hot sauce.

And yes, that @lostletterrva pasta may look familiar. It was so good I brought a second group of friends back for another round of that sungold-saucy goodness.

If someone asked me what to order around Richmond right now, I’d send them this post.

These are the dishes that stood out to me in June—the dishes I’d order again, and plan on dragging friends for!

Highlights from the highlights:

✨ @lopossumrva continues to prove the hype is real.
🍝 Enoteca Sogno might have served my favorite pasta of the month and I don’t know how I never ordered the robiola before. It’s so creamy and the honey drizzle makes it even better.
🍔 @lafayettetavern’s burger doesn’t have to be “for the table” but i strongly suggest it
🦞 Poolside lobster rolls @yellowumbrellaprovisions and lobster pizza @zorchpizza just feel like summer.
🍑 That house-made peach ice cream at @uliveto_rva is a great way to sample the summer’s bounty. And the celery kale spaghetti is a sleeper menu item.
🥩 The crazy steak is from @beaucouprva
🍣 Katana Sushi is worth the drive South for quality & price
🌭 @themayormeats last day in the restaurant is tomorrow… if you are in town for the holiday go get a sausage!
