Lampoon MECCANO

Eva Baales photographs Bhoomi Yadav — who walked the Chanel Fall/Winter 2026 show under Mathieu Blazy’s direction — for The Dynamic Issue.

There is something in the act of walking a runway that already contains its own undoing: every stride is a controlled surrender to gravity, every step forward a negotiation with the fall.

This fashion story becomes the occasion for a reflection on the idea of a calibrated fall — or “The Beautiful Fall”: Alicia Drake’s book reconstructing Paris between the 1960s and 1970s through the rivalry of Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent. Two opposing systems, two social constellations, two ways of converting desire, conflict, and relationships into aesthetic production.

Abandoning the stage is the apotheosis of downfall. Downfall is its own appeal — something falling, slowly and calmly. Enough controversy and clamour, enough formality, no more bites.
