Мой первый профессиональный конгресс позади. И помимо бесценного опыта, в голове сейчас огромный to-do лист - над чем еще стоит поработать в своей собственной жизни. Благо, выпросила у жизни возможность учиться у лучших

Этот опыт отлично показал: когда ты помещаешь себя в профессиональную среду, где единственным инструментом взаимодействия с коллегами становится языковой навык, результаты поражают. На качественно новый уровень выходят не только лингвистические, но и так называемые soft и hard skills.

Да, порой бывает очень страшно. Накрывает не только языковой барьер, но и разница в ментальности. Но если помнить, что все мы прежде всего ЛЮДИ, взаимодействовать в любой среде становится намного проще.

Хочется пожелать всем нам оставаться людьми в любых ситуациях, с которыми сталкивает жизнь. Помнить, что хороших людей, может, и не так много, но они точно есть! И если посчастливилось повстречать таких на своем пути, важно не забывать: подобное притягивает подобное.

Поэтому чекаем прежде всего себя на предмет: «А что я за человек?» 🙏

Vlog 2: Life at IISc, Bengaluru ✨

I attended a five days Short Course in Epidemiology organised by ICPH, IISc, in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
@iisc_bangalore @isaac_centre_for_public_health @lshtm

Epidemiology explores how health and disease are distributed across populations, what influences these patterns and how we can use that knowledge to improve health. From study designs and confounding to causal inference and hands-on analysis in R, the course gave me a fresh perspective on asking better research questions.

And between the sessions? Conversations over chai, new connections and walks through the beautiful campus.
☕✨

A few ways to make courses and conferences like these count:

• Read the agenda beforehand and identify what you want to learn.
• Ask questions and talk to people beyond your own field.
• Use breaks to connect—ask about someone’s work and share your interests.
• Follow up with a thoughtful message mentioning your conversation.
• Put one takeaway into practice in your own research or studies.

There’s so much to learn, both inside the classroom and in the conversations around it. 🤍

As many of you know, as well as being an author I work in health - and I loved when London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine @lshtm (where I studied for my Masters degree 15 years ago) invited me to reflect on the links between my health policy/research identity and my author identity. I also took the opportunity to make the case for why everyone including academics should read fiction. Published in Alumni magazine this month.

She shares how she carved her own path into the field, starting with her first exposure at the Global Ophthalmology Summit. She later pursued an MSc in Public Health for Eye Care at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, all while learning from leaders in the field on social media, like Dr. Sila Bal (@dr.eyebal)

Here's a bit of what I said, taken from the article --" Jamini Sen was an inspiration a century ago, as she is today. Through her work and her very attitude to life, she showed us what living as an independent woman really meant. Even as she excelled in her chosen profession, she never lost the softer side of her personality. And I think that was what made her such a compassionate and caring doctor. The reemergence of Jamini Sen in 2026 proves that personalities never die. A life never truly ends. What matters, stays."
