In anticipation of some much needed precip here in Tahoe, I started thinking about how special life in the snow is.

Growing up surfing, I’m used to the origin of my joy being tied to a limited resource. But the difference with surfing is you can do it all year round. Sure there are flat spells but eventually a swell comes and you’re back at it.

With snow sports you literally pack away your gear for 6-ish months out of the year (excluding SoHemisphere trips). There’s something beautiful about this cycle. The break serves as an epic reset, allowing us to properly calm the Winter cortisol load from chasing storms and always being at the ready.

By the time the next Winter rolls around, we are frothing like a child, once again. What a gift to feel such pure youthful stoke every year. All by simply following nature’s natural rhythm…
