Thanks to everyone who made 38 such a great year. I was lucky enough to spend most of it in the theatre. I got to work on great shows with my very best friends in Louisiana and Michigan, and I got to watch my own kids develop their love for the stage. I bought my first truck, grew a short-lived and rather unimpressive beard, and wore out several pairs of Jordan 1s.

Thanks, as always, to @melissacottonhunter for being my best friend and favorite collaborator, AND happy 12th anniversary!

39 just may be my best year yet.

Deep dive into the set of David Auburn’s “Proof”. This was a static set I was commissioned to design for Director Bob Harper at @lsua.esp . It was constructed by LSUA students, Patrick Hunter and myself. Bob did the set dressing. Patrick Hunter was the lighting designer on this project. The lights coming through the walls really bring the concept of this house and the show to life. The photos detail the process from concept design to finish. It is very satisfying to be able to create art that people can perform on. To be part of the magic that actors and tech can create. For it all to come together for a brief moment in time and then it disappears. To be torn down and recycled into something new for the next show.

Meet Tyler Escobio, a United States Army veteran and proud student at Louisiana State University of Alexandria, graduating with a B.A. in History (Pre-Law concentration). This summer, Tyler will attend Harvard University to pursue a Master’s degree in Religion, with plans to continue on to law school and beyond.

“My time at LSUA has been nothing short of incredible… thank you for the best years of my life.”

In addition to his academic achievements, Tyler has also been a familiar face on stage at LSUA, frequently performing in Empty Space Players productions and contributing to the campus arts community. He most recently played Charles in "Pippin" for his last semester on campus.

We are so proud of ASH Theatre sophomore Andrew Nguyen for his featured work in the Cenla Young Playwrights’ Festival at LSUA! Tonight, Andrew’s original play, Oneirataxia, was performed for an audience who then got to engage with him and share their reactions, feedback, questions, and opinions. The actors, two of which were ASH alumni, portrayed these characters for the first time, giving Andrew the chance to see his hauntingly beautiful written work come to life. Creativity abounds at ASH and we love to see it flourish in theatre! Thank you @lsua.esp for the opportunity! There is one more chance to see this and other works performed tomorrow night at 7pm at Mulder Hall at LSUA!

Teaching has brought me all kinds joys I never saw coming. Last night I got to share the stage with two of my former students who now attend LSUA. Watching their growth and the way they are thriving in this new environment is a greater thrill than I ever thought possible! These are girls I’ve only known for a year but we have laughed together, cried together, been through challenges and come out stronger. Thank you LSUA’s Empty Space Players for giving my kids a new stage to grow on! I love you, girls! I can’t wait to continue to watch you blossom!! 💜🌸💛 #ashtrojans #ashtheatre #troupe731 #highschooltheater #theaterkids

I’m not big on birthday celebrations (besides, of course, the year I got married on my birthday), but on my last day of being 37, I am struck by how wonderful this year has been. It was a year full of doing what I love, surrounded by friends, new and old. Thanks to all who made 37 so amazing. Looking forward to what 38 has in store!
