I ran across this image today while pulling photos for our new website. I cried again when I saw it today, just like I did from behind the camera in 2013. These moments are the ones that make me fall in love with weddings all over again. I am honored to document such impactful moments for my clients. My camera warrants me the opportunity to be a part of some very private moments, then it is my job to anticipate those moments and create heirlooms that will stand the test of time.

To fully appreciate this image you have to know a touch of the back story. The groom’s father was wheelchair bound and in failing health. A horrible disease had taken his ability to speak. Determined to make his son’s wedding he did just that! When it was time for a family portrait I asked his son to kneel down close to him. After I took a portrait, they looked at each other and the tears began to fall. When words failed them their emotions spoke volumes. A sacred moment shared.

His father passed away a few months later. I’m grateful for this capture. I am thankful for the reminder that what we do as photographers is important. I am grateful for the story this image tells, but mostly for the love it shows.
