It is time for part ✌🏻of the Lilo and Stitch Memes: Chronic Illness Edition by yours truly and @libbinforthehopeofitall 💙🌺🏄🏻‍♀️👧🏻

All my POTsies, what’s your go-to electrolyte drink now the temperatures are starting to rise again? Mine are watermelon salt and sparkling black cherry lime electrolytes from @drinklmnt

[Image Descriptions:

Meme 1: Stitch flops down on the bed with his bottle and starts chugging his drink. The text above reads: “Don’t mind me, just chugging my electrolyte drink so l can attempt to be upright and semi-functional today.”

Meme 2: The scene of Stitch is in black and white as he’s sobbing in the rain, lips quivering and all. The text above reads: “When it starts to rain, and all your joints are lighting up like Christmas trees from the barometric pressure changes.”

Meme 3: Stitch is standing on a pile of rocks with a green fire rising behind him, cackling with maniacal laughter. The text above reads: “When you’re on the internet in the wee hours of the morning and find a new potential diagnosis for which you meet all the criteria.”

Meme 4: Lilo is wearing a pink bando top, a grass hula skirt, and a leaf crown while babbling and pulling on her hair in frustration. The text above reads: “When you’re trying to explain to someone who doesn’t understand why you don’t work.”

Meme 5: Stitch is in the laundry room, standing in a pile of unfolded clothes in a laundry basket with a polka dot make-shirt hat and red cape. The text above reads: “When you suggest a diagnosis to a friend that might fit them, and it turns out they meet the criteria and get diagnosed.”

If you can relate to these situations, drop a 💙 in the comments. Stay tuned for Part 3 coming soon.

Spoonie Life Hack: Making an Accessible Craft and Snack Cart

Step 1: Find a Suitable Cart
I recommend searching for a three-tier rolling cart so you have plenty of storage space and can easily move it to where you need it. You can find them in various big box stores such as Michaels, Target, or Walmart or online at Amazon. I found mine via my local buy-nothing Facebook group.

Step 2: Make a Plan
Make a list of the shelf-stable and safe snacks and drinks you’d like to include in your cart. Brainstorm the types of low-spoon crafts and activities you already have at home. If possible, recruit a family member or friend to help you gather the items and stock the cart so you don’t have to expend the extra energy.

Step 3: Set It Up in an Ideal Location
Think of the place where you spend the most time during your worst PEM days. Are you usually on the couch, or do you stay in your bedroom? Put the cart there so you have easy access to activities and sustenance on your most challenging days. Bonus: you’ll have an alternative to reaching for your phone and doomscrolling all day.

Suggested Snacks & Drinks:
• Juice pouches
• Sparkling water
• Ginger ale or beer
• Ginger chews
• Crackers
• Rice rollers
• Rice chips (fave Dang Thai)
• Granola or protein bars
• Organic low-sugar candy

Suggested Crafts & Activities:
• Lego kit (botanicals are my fave!)
• colored pencils
• markers
• coloring books
• Journal
• Paint-by-Stickers book
• Embroidery kit
• book
• Out of Your Mind activity book
• sound proof headphones
• stress ball

Other Miscellaneous Items:
Consider adding anything else that would be helpful to have within reach. These items might include:
• Napkins
• Masks for COVID safety
• Stickers (if you want to decorate your cart)
• Heating pads
• Instant cold/hot compresses
• Medications
• Stuffed animal

@ltbrash asked for Lilo & Stitch Memes: Chronic Illness Edition, so @libbinforthehopeofitall and I teamed up to make that a reality. Enjoy Part One of this series, which features a lot of memes centered around ME/CFS and the unfortunate lack of awareness and understanding of the condition by most medical professionals and people in general.

In the comments, drop a 🏄🏻‍♀️ or 🌺 if you can relate. Which meme resonates with you the most?

[Image Descriptions: Lilo is wearing a flower in her hair, a lei, and a grass skirt while hugging Stitch tightly to her chest. The text above reads “Lilo and Stitch Memes: Chronic Illness Edition.”

Meme 1: Stitch is wearing long blue pajamas with a matching hat and curling up in bed with his stuffed animal. The text above reads: “When you’re flaring up, so you crawl back into bed (if you ever left) with your comfort items and pajamas.”

Meme 2: Stitch throws a red book so hard at Mr. Cobra Bubbles’ face that it knocks off his sunglasses. The text above reads: “When someone says that ME/CFS is not a real medical condition, especially during ME/CFS Awareness Month.”

Meme 3: Stitch is lying on the rug at the foot of the bed, crying in frustration while wearing pajamas. The text above reads: “When you’re having an ME/CFS flare-up but can’t sleep because you’re tired but wired again.”

Meme 4: Lilo is on stage with other hula performers and turns and punches a young person with red hair and glasses. The text above reads: “How you really want to respond when someone gives you unsolicited medical advice.”

Meme 5: Stitch is sitting at the table in front of a bowl full of candy, shoveling candy wrappers in his mouth. The text reads: “When you find a new safe food that doesn’t trigger any of your symptoms.”]
