Please join us for a reading of a dangerous rediscovered comedy, The Angels (presumably adapted from Fuenteovejuna by Lope de Vega), on July 27 at the Victory Theatre Center!

7:30 p.m. @ Monday, July 27
Victory Theatre Center @thevictorytheatrecenter
3326 W. Victory Blvd.
Burbank, CA 91505
ONE NIGHT ONLY!

In 1831 Los Angeles was terrorized by a gobernador who flouted Mexican law, imprisoned citizens unjustly, sexually assaulted women and cloaked his crimes in religion. The Angels is the (mostly) true story of a little-known incident in California history. Lost for decades, this 1960s translation from the original Spanish is an uproarious comedy of torture and murder. And it rhymes!

The incredible cast includes:

Paige Conroy @iampaigeconroy
Kelvin Morales @kelvinandresmorales
Rob Nagle @nagdoggie
Ann Noble @sparksjacks
Peter James Smith @pjsactor
Bahni Turpin @bahni_turpin
L. Trey Wilson @ltreywilson

Directed by Maria Gobetti @gobetti725

Join the first audience to hear this play read aloud...in more than 100 years...or maybe ever!

Good to run into singer songwriter Natalie Nicole Gilbert, who I haven’t seen in years at Zero Waste Share Fair on Saturday. Good to meet screenwriter, Trey Wilson as well too. Great event to help the environment!

i freaking love bits. it fuels my soul and my heart being able to be in a room full of humans who are good to their core and exceptionally talented (to say the least). i never thought id be able to share my own art and words up on stage along with them. i started coming to bits a little over a year ago and i never leave not in awe and inspired. nothing but big love for these people + those not pictured.

(also, @kirstenvangsness i’m really sorry for making you get eyeliner in your eye.)

This photo explosion is to celebrate even more of the the family, the friends, and both of the criminal minds and the Wizards work/family/friends people came out to watch outdated. What a joy, what a joy and I am extremely excited to see what happens next. I highly recommend listening to your creative whispers and making some thing of them as it gives you more energy to call your representatives and smell a little Hope in the air and have some faith in your own power and voice.

May 7 doors at 7 o’clock show at 7:30 suggested audience theme (not mandatory just a fun way to dress up if you feel like it) is “clashing” (you know, like clash of clothes, like polkadots and stripes like colors that don’t go together or so they say) hence @tommylenk fantastic clash of the Titans flyer here will suggest. If your art well needs water (and honestly it needs watering every day), show up and give a listen to a handful of artists show a newly created bit of art at seven minutes or under. I promise you will leave filled up and ready to greet these challenging times with bravery and fabulousness. Ticket link bio the money we raise will go to Theatre of Note & @lawaterkeeper - also every month we count how many people are in the audience and we give that much money to an indigenous charity… come fill up your spirit and help fill up all kinds of other worthy things. It’s up to us to be full of love and power right now and being in community helps in the most wonderful of ways. Also, I know it’s a school night but we’re usually saying our goodbyes before 9 PM. Make art. Repeat.

Today is @lizzzerrd day of birth. I’m a big believer in putting more romance in our friendships (and more friendship into our romances, but that’s another post) so I enthusiastically celebrate that we are pals, and appreciate all the insights and kindness and smarts Elizabeth has brought into my world with her smarts, kindness and insights. Not to mention that she has made @showbitsness that much more weird and wonderful. It’s really cool to have friends we’ve know forever when we were different versions of us into now and it’s also super special (and sometimes super rare) to make good new friends when your are in this version of you. Happy Birthday Elizabeth you are human I am delighted, relieved and excited is on the planet.
