The Convocation was a day of learning, creativity, and collective power. Students from across Michigan came together to sharpen our organizing skills, reflect on the realities of our campuses, learn from one another, and create together through Ujima and Harambe. Shout out Detroit action - not possible without their contribution here. From critical conversations to creative expression, we reminded ourselves that building power starts with how we come together and what we choose to do with it. One day, many campuses, one collective commitment. HARAMBEE.

Today’s Convocation was a real reflection of what it looks like to build together with intention. We spent the day sharpening our organizing skills, grounding ourselves in self-interest and community responsibility, and learning from each other across campuses and experiences. From creative Harambe production work to student films and honest conversations about what’s happening on our campuses, every part of the day pushed us to think deeper and move more collectively. We showed up, we challenged each other, and we left with more clarity and connection than we came with. We talked about the importance of engaging our local politic. Special shoutout to Detroit action for supporting and sponsoring this project. Harambe.

Harambee Black Convergence Family This past weekend, Black Convergence gathered in Idlewild, Michigan for our Induction Retreat in Evart Mi. What we built out there was real: political education, organizer training, strategy sessions, laughter, late-night conversations, and the kind of connection that turns individuals into a disciplined collective. UofM Bsu, Ltu Bsu, and Wayne state Bsu showed up in the space this past weekend and brought the energy! Sponsored by Detroit Action, this retreat grounded us in why we organize and sharpened how we organize. We studied, we planned, we challenged each other, and we left clearer about the work ahead. Idlewild reminded us of legacy. And now we bring that energy back home. The work continues.
