1-minute edit from the Electroacoustic improvisation course final concert, which hopefully shows the wide range of musical places we visited together with @lu__ae, @ameloukmusic, and @otso.tmp. Also, the stage design was their (wonderful) idea and realisation. That was really a lot of fun! Also, the spectacular live lighting and sound made by Sirje Ruohtula and Mikko Ingman! @sibeliusacademy @music_and_technology_siba

Just some pictures from @performingthepolitical last month 💫✨ Thank you for whowing such a diverse range of performers in just one festival (I couldn't fit everybody in just one post 🥲) 🙏🏼 It's been super rewarding to see, how many have shared my pictures! This is one reason why I'm doing these gigs; to help my colleagues to promote their amazing work 🫶 @performingthepolitical @uniartshelsinki @sibeliusacademy @partytuuri

Something Else is turning 1 year old -- join us for an expansive night of improvised music and performance featuring Finnish and international including Lumi Mannermaa (cello, electronics), Viktor Toikkanen (electronics), Wilson Tanner Smith (cello) and performance artist Katia Skylar. Limited quantities of birthday cake and party hats may be on offer... 23.04.2026 7pm Suggested donation €10-25 (mobilepay or cash) // About: KATIA SKYLAR is a Helsinki-based performance maker, butoh dancer, and actor working internationally. Her work moves across stage, screen, and immersive formats, blending physicality, voice, and multilingual performance. She is especially drawn to structured improvisation and collaborative encounters across disciplines. https://www.katiaskylar.com/ @katiaskylar LUMI MANNERMAA is a sound artist based in Helsinki who works between the realms of failure and success, using absurdity as a medium for communication. In her practice she uses augmented toy instruments, free improvisation, experimental instrument building, pataphysical conceptuality and modern day nuisances, such as social media content streams, covering subjects such as mistake, the subconscious, and the ugly and humorous, to name a few. https://soundcloud.com/lumi-mannermaa Instagram: @lu__ae VIKTOR TOIKKANEN is a composer, sound engineer and multimedia artist from Helsinki, Finland. Navigating between electronic music, multimedia, contemporary classical, free improvisation, and performance art, Toikkanen refuses to adhere to a single style, constantly seeking new ways of self-expression. https://linktr.ee/viktortoikkanen / @syntaxjuggalo WILSON TANNER SMITH is a cellist, composer, improviser, and theatre artist currently based in Helsinki. His musical sensibility is informed by free improvisation/free jazz, ambient, DIY and found sounds, and by many cross-cultural/-genre collaborations in his former hometown, Chicago, and more recently across northern/western Europe. www.wilsontannersmith.com Poster features graphics by @boots_malanga Malanga / Joel Garcia
