Traces from Nature — SECONDroom, Antwerpen Welkom Vrijdag 30 oktober BORGER @borgernocturnes Zaterdag 31 oktober SECONDroom gaf me de tijd om in haar ruimte te experimenteren. Onder de titel Traces from Nature creëer ik in de voormalige fotostudio een tijdelijk landschap. De muren worden dragers van tekens en sporen. Wat buiten aanwezig is, breng ik naar binnen. Indrukken uit de natuur worden herleid tot structuren en bewegingen. Traces from Nature wordt een onderstroom: soms herkenbaar, soms bijna verdwenen in abstractie. Rond één centraal geometrisch kunstwerk ontvouwen potloodlijnen zich tot een getekend landschap. Na een periode van zoeken en bouwen is er één dag waarop het werk zichtbaar is voor bezoekers. Daarna verdwijnen de grafietsporen opnieuw van de muren. 
Het neerzetten en het uitwissen, het ontstaan en het verdwijnen, maken deel uit van hetzelfde insitu project. SECONDroom expo No. 393 Zaterdag 26 september 16:00 / 21:00 He didn’t cry on a safari In over his knees He couldn’t leave the finer life Always hugging the ground But crying out for me He didn’t cry on a safari In over his knees He couldn’t leave the flock, he couldn’t leave Always hugging the man But crying out for me (lyrics from Safari by the Breeders) In Stereo, Karolina Szwed explores repetition, gesture, and visual perception through three horizontal pairs of companion paintings. Drawing inspiration from stereoscopic vision and the limits of muscle memory, each pair investigates how intuitive, impulse-driven brushwork shifts when attempting to recreate an image. The works, displayed side by side, invite viewers into direct comparison, allowing a meaning to stem from the subtle, accidental or conscious variations of the human hand. In the single Safari Kim Deal invited her twin sister to join the band for the first time. SECONDroom presented Ermias Kifleyesus’ very first one-day exhibition. What was initially conceived as a three-month project grew into a journey that has now lasted more than two decades. There were doubts at the time. Could the concept be sustained? Would a single opening night be enough? Twenty years on, we can say: yes, we’re still here. And the concept still holds. There was never a grand plan, nor a fully articulated theory. Instead, there was a simple praxis: doing, learning, experimenting, and starting again. With hospitality and artistic freedom as guiding principles. SECONDroom set out to create a space where artists could experiment and present their work, where visitors could simply drop in, and where encounters and connections could unfold. Sometimes planned, often simply happening along the way. This has only been possible thanks to the many volunteers who have contributed over the years. To the more than 400 artists who have taken part, supported SECONDroom, and helped shape the project. And, of course, to the countless visitors who came week after week — out of curiosity, out of sympathy, because they believed it mattered, or simply because it was fun. To everyone who has helped build SECONDroom over the past 20 years: thank you.!!!!🥰

Bedankt aan @berserkartagent voor de SECONDroom expo No. 391 Berserk Art Agency x Secondroom | showcase #5 | Lawrence Kudria & Lucas Dewulf Come for the art🎨 Stay for Drinks, Talk and Friends ✨ Berserk Art Agency, opgericht door Anouk Focquier, biedt sinds 2014 een verbindings- en ondersteuningscontext voor kunstenorganisaties en -praktijken. Vanuit verschillende invalshoeken ondersteunt en stimuleert Berserk Art Agency makers, organisaties en de sector. Berserk Art Agency cureert, produceert, managet, distribueert en bouwt inter/nationale netwerken uit. Berserk Art Agency stelt tijd en experiment centraal, werkt nomadisch en is altijd onderweg. September komt in zicht en dat betekent dat we uitkijken naar de volgende showcase bij SECONDroom Antwerpen. Tijdens Showcase #5 leggen we de focus op analoge en digitale immersie.  Wat betekent het om collectief of individueel een andere gedeelde ruimte binnen te stappen? Hoe verhouden we onszelf tot ons lichaam en dat van anderen? Hoe kunnen immersieve werelden kaders creëren waarin we kunnen nadenken over identiteit, emotie, kwetsbaarheid en taboe? De uitgenodigde kunstenaars zijn Lawrence Kudria (UA) en Lucas Dewulf (BE). Showcase #5 opent voor het publiek op 10.09 tussen 18:00 - 22:00 Op zondag 13.08 van 14:00 tot 17:00 kan je deelnemen aan de Live Action Role Play (LARP) These Violent Delights van Lucas Dewulf. Deze LARP werd gecoproduceerd door De Grote Post (Oostende) en onderzoekt structurele vormen van geweld. Welke plekken bestaan er in onze samenleving om geweld een plaats te geven?
