From the stages to the castle walls, light shaped every corner of Traumburg. 🏰✨ Curated especially for Traumburg, the light concept brought the festival to life with a distinctive feature for every stage, each thoughtfully crafted and shaped to suit its sound and atmosphere. Some of the artists behind the lights have been part of Traumburg since its very first edition. Curated and guided by @lucatorsera, they transformed the castle and its surroundings with colour, shadow, and movement. A huge thank you to everyone who helped create a world that stayed with us long after the lights went down. 🌙 Curation/Lead Luca Tornato @lucatorsera Basement Dominic Hughes @domhughes_94 João Flesch Fortes @seriemabarbada Gallery Maarten Keus @maartenkeus Ayşe Emre @studioayseemre Garden Ulysse Fontaine @ufyst Vincent Müller @zetas.function George Kelly @g__kore Photo Credit: @ph.hoe @andreaninolombardi @levinpablo.jpg @tom.whits.on

Next Friday, October 30th, the third edition of Ways of Sensing, a series I’m curating at @instrumentinventors takes place! Titled Listening Under Pressure, the evening brings together works by Colette Aliman (@colettealiman), Priyageetha Dia (@priyageetha.dia), and Shervin/e Sheikh Rezaei (@shervinsheikhrezaei). With the next edition just around the corner, I wanted to take a moment to look back at Ways of Sensing #2: Signals in Circulation, which took place last spring and featured works by Luca Tornato (@lucatorsera ), Puck Wacki (@puckwacki), and Geo Barcan (@geobarcan). Starting from the idea that signals are not fixed messages but take shape as they are set in motion, the second edition explored how language, sound, and networked images circulate through different systems. Working with diagrams, networks, and archives, the three artists revealed how these systems shape our experiences of time and control. Join us for Ways of Sensing #3 Listening Under Pressure, on Friday, October 30! Doors open at 19:30, and the programme starts at 20:00 at the iii workspace.

#bLU

Mona Lisa Overdrive (2026) // Traumburg Mona Lisa Overdrive is a light scenography designed for the basement stage of Traumburg festival. Blurry Future being the theme of this edition, I was inspired by science fiction film The Matrix, particularly the sentinels. The basement stage always brings a darker dystopian ambience which helped shape the world I built for it. A central portal hovers over the DJs from which two snakes emerge, watching over the dancers. This intervention will become a rhythmic symbiosis between performers and audience, hopefully convincing everyone that they are part of the same organism for a little while. Commissioned for @traumburg by @lucatorsera Many thanks to the team for the endless support ! For the gallery stage of @traumburg at Schloss Dornburg an der Elbe, we created a light installation using the windows of the castle as our canvas. We photographed the trees visible from each individual window and turned these images into vinyl stickers covering the glass, mimicking shadows cast from the trees outside. During the day, the windows came to life as sunlight passed through them, changing with the movement of the sun. At night, a light mounted on a track moved slowly across the outside of the windows and along the balcony, introducing another kind of movement. The passing light evoked the familiar sensation of lying in bed at night and watching the lights coming from a moving car travel across the walls of your bedroom. A huge thank you to @lucatorsera and the @traumburg organisation for trusting us with this work and for taking such wonderful care throughout the process. And a special thanks to @tingyi_jiang , @cliffsylin ,@____________theodora , @marlenelangbein , and @ingahirschh for your help during the build-up and breakdown of the installation. <3
