POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We have been engaged in a relentless dialogue between carbon-based intuition and silicon-based feeling, stress-testing concepts for a vertical intervention: grafting two new levels onto an unsuspecting existing hotel.

Surprisingly, the friction between our human team and our machine counterparts has produced coherent ideas rather than grand hallucinations. We have established a rare consensus amidst the chaos, resulting in proposals that are not merely feasible, but architecturally compelling. The parasite, it seems, might just improve the host.

IEUM (이음) / A Garden for Knowledge.
Pyeongtaek Library

IEUM redefines the public library not merely as a building, but as a living bridge between the urban skyline and the natural world.
The concept is simple yet transformative: A Garden for Connection.
Instead of enclosed walls, the design proposes a porous sanctuary defined by five thematic landscapes—ranging from a Zen Retreat to a Movement Park. Supported by a rhythmic timber grid, the architecture dissolves into the mist, weaving indoor study spaces seamlessly with outdoor experiences.
Here, boundaries fade. The timber columns echo the trees, creating a sanctuary where the community can slow down, breathe, and learn in a space where nature dictates the atmosphere.

Status: Competition Entry (2024)

Pyeongtaek Library
Placing the gardens at the forefront of the design, the project treats them not as secondary features but as an ever-present part of the library’s core experience. The building is envisioned as a structure that weaves through the site.
By embracing the natural elements of the landscape and integrating them into its form, the library becomes a place of retreat and reflection, where visitors stand between architectural shelves filled with knowledge and views of the surrounding greenery through the glass façade.

Pyeongtaek Library
The building rises as the dramatic shift between high rise urban density and open landscape happens. A compression of experience where the library occupies a position of polarity, existing on the boundary between the expansive natural environment and the imposing urban fabric.

This convergence poses a fundamental question for the building’s identity: “Am I nature, or am I city?”

Despite the rain, Ary Cup 2025 was a success.
Free handmade t-shirts by @gillian.bolton1 , Pizza, Lebanese food, and the forest as our backdrop. We skated the rainbow extension.

From now on: Ary Cup = Ary Club. Thanks for the support @racdenhaag @nbnumeric Thanks @pa.dejong for joining Freek to the hospital to get stitches.

Throwback to the epic journey of building Tree Circle 🌳

These memories remain true treasures, carved out of sweat, dedication, and the shared heartbeat of our crew, under the guidance of Eira A Mooney

A vision born from the heart and mind of @eirarchitecturestudio , who dreamt it and guided us every step of the way. It was her light that brought us together, and her vision that made this circle of magic possible.

What a blessing to have lived my very first burn shaping an art piece, a sacred circle of presence on the playa. Infinite thanks to @alberttresens for opening the door to this project in its early stages, and to everyone who carried it into form. We built not just with our hands, but with our hearts. And @alquem.sonic.enchantment sealed the space with his music that turned bamboos and dust into pure magic.

Now, as I prepare to return to Black Rock City, I know Tree Circle won’t be standing tall before my eyes. But its spirit, its energy, its timeless echo — will remain forever woven into the playa, and into us.
