POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

𝒜 𝒞𝓁𝑜𝓈𝑒𝒹 𝐸𝓎𝑒 𝒞𝓁𝒶𝒾𝓂𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝒷𝑒 𝐵𝓁𝒾𝓃𝒹

Like every other sensible soul these days, I’ve been thinking about the continued poisoning of our beautiful world a lot lately. This series of prints is one attempt to think through the false distance that human beings create between ourselves and the natural world.

Printed on paper made from waste product straw usually burned off at the end of the farmer’s growing season. It’s off-white surface is speckled with little grains and seed heads.

The show starts at 7pm, with a live musical performance by @recoverysignals at 8pm!

Excited to see y’all there

Nora at Night 😌🪷🍵🌛
written by April dela Noche Milne

"When the bustle & noise of daytime are too much, Nora looks forward to nighttime’s calm & hush. The artwork tenderly captures the rhythms of a bustling household & celebrates the children who create their own peaceful corners, making it a natural fit for lessons on adaptability & inner strength. This comforting ode to quiet reassures children that they can find softness amid the noise of everyday life."

★"In this vibrant & joyfully tumultuous story, a kid who’s sensitive to sounds relishes the quieter edges of her days. Sensitively encapsulating the experience of noise sensitivity… An energetic & empathetic pick for kids who simply crave peace." -Kirkus

★"Night’s quiet calm brings ease to a child experiencing sensory overwhelm in dela Noche Milne’s down-to-earth appreciation. Sketchlike artwork brings a graphic novel–like dynamism to pages that overflow with onomatopoeia. Working in lock-step with alliterative descriptive text, the images & sounds emphasize the cacophony… Nighttime’s allure reverberates in this sympathetic depiction of a youth attentively navigating their sensory environment." -Pub Weekly

★"[The] illustrations capture Nora’s sensitivities instantly; scenes overflow with people, movement, and illustrated onomatopoeia that ebb through the compositions. Readers dwelling in small spaces will especially relate to Milne’s cheerfully chaotic family scenes, where bedrooms open into noisy family spaces & showers are invaded by gargling Papas. A realistic, soothing story that celebrates every member of an energetic, loving family, especially the quiet child." -SLJ
