What started as a crazy idea over coffee has become our annual Welsh odyssey.

Together, a group of seven runners take on everything Wales has to offer, starting in Llanberis, covering the distance on foot, and climbing over 6,000m in the process, all the way to Cardiff.

The roads are long, the climbs brutal, but most importantly, the laughs are loud and the smiles wide. We brew coffee in car parks and make cheese sandwiches at the roadside as we cheer our teammates along.

This is what running is about for us: making memories, taking on new challenges, discovering new places, all with a team and group of friends you know you couldn’t do it without.  This is why we do it, this is why we run.

You don’t need to run the length of Wales to find your running crew. Ready to start your own adventure? Join us on Thursday at 6:30 pm.

Always welcoming, always social, new friendships guaranteed.

10 YEARS…wow, thank you so much Cardiff!💛

In 2015, we set out as an independent business(✊) with a passion for good coffee, and the culture and community around it, and to hopefully host and cultivate a place for moments set apart from all ‘the noise’. Well, after an absolutely incredible 10 years, we have made the very tough decision to finally draw the curtain.
Cardiff is a place of such rich history and tradition, while simultaneously being a place of originality, creativity and passion. At the time that we opened, and now, we couldn’t think of a better place to do what we set out to do. From Pontcanna, to Grangetown, to Canton, thank you so much for your contribution in cultivating such beautiful and inspiring community around coffee.
We are honestly humbled by the inspiring community that exists in Cardiff and we feel successful because of you. We are also so grateful to every creative team member that has worked with us over the years, and all our wonderful suppliers and collaborators. It’s been such an amazing treat to finish off our last few years in the beautiful Thompson’s Park, what a gem. Sometimes we forget the magic and power a garden can have. It stops time, quiets the noise, stretches the space, immerses us in its warming atmosphere and graciously extends a depth of flavour to us. If we have reflected this as a business in anyway, we’re happy :)

Diolch am yr holl atgofion, llawenydd, a chefnogaeth dros y blynyddoedd :) :) :)

On the 3rd of August 2024, 7 members of the Hard Lines Run Club set off to cover 270km across 48 checkpoints with over 7000m of climbing. Starting in Llanberis in North Wales and finishing at our cafe in Canton, Cardiff.

It was an idea born out of adventure, teamwork and friendship. Ascending mountains, navigating lakes and negotiating fields. Taking on road and trail we got to see some of the best, that our country, Wales has to offer.

We all landed safely back in Cardiff, South Wales on Sunday evening after over 30 hours of running, shuffling, walking and sometimes even climbing. Feeling buoyant and that we really did achieve something special.

Running can be ugly but this was simply beautiful.
