⚠️ heavier post below 🫶🏽

Some BTS from a shoot from almost two years ago. I’ve been sitting on posting this footage for a while. I look at this footage and think about how fake it is - between every one of these clips I was most likely crying. I was struggling a ton with my mental health and only a few close people in my life knew it.

I was in Church today and my Pastor reminded us that everything we see online isn’t reality. It’s the highlight reel we want people to see. This footage is exactly that. A highlight reel of what I wanted to portray. Someone that had their life together. But that’s not reality. Reality is I was just trying to fake a smile and pretend like I was okay.

Luckily we fast forward to today and my mental health is better than it’s been in a long time. I say all this for a few reasons - 1. I hope anyone who’s struggling knows life does get better in time. And 2. - I want to remind anyone that comes across my content that what we post is a highlight reel. It’s so easy to get down on our own lives when we compare it to all the cool things people post online (I do this all the time). But remember we are all posting small portions of our lives. We never know what’s going on outside these tiny clips 🤎

Reminiscing on one of my favorite projects! Me becoming Olivia Brooks on NBC’s @nbcchicagomed . This process took 4 hours and I could not have had a better experience with this team 🥹🫶🏽

What started as a one episode costar on @nbclawandorder has turned into 3 episodes and I could not be more grateful for this experience and for the incredibly kind and welcoming cast & crew 🥹

Anyways - wanted to share my audition vs final spot!

Here is my silent audition vs the final.

I submitted two takes for this. They ended up wanting me to play it more like my second take (which is the one here).

So grateful for everyone at @1stteamactorsstudio who helped me get to this point! Could not have done it without you. And also my wonderful NYC agent @pmtheagency ❤️

What I love about acting is that we can all get the same line and interpret it a different way. It’s all about the choices we make. What was NOT given to us on the paper.

You can see here I have two different versions:

Version 1: I decided Jenna is pretty confident in the test coming up so she’s not frustrated. More focused. Until Bobby - who she has a crush on - walks up to her.

Version 2: Jenna does not feel confident in the material. She’s just not getting it. And of course the class “know it all” comes up just to make it known that he’s feeling really good about the exam prep.

Now this part is important - If I got a one line audition for a feature film or tv show I would approach that line in a much more “throw away” manner (let me know if you want me to do a video on what that means). Because our job in that moment is typically just to move the story along (unless told otherwise). However for the purpose of this video I wanted to show how specificity in our choices can completely change a scene!

Hope this is helpful to anyone out there starting their acting journey!

I thought I’d start a little series called embarrassing actor stories. Where I share the stories I think about right before I fall asleep at night 🙃

This one is definitely mild but I’m trying to dip my toe in ok?? normalizing that embarrassing things are going to happen - it ain’t no thang 😂

Also - @dochertyagency I LOVE you all ❤️

Up next… 🛁 story… IYKYK.

What my Sunday afternoons as an actor look like these days 💃🏻

If you don’t care about the makeup I got in my @fabfitfun box I would probably skip to the middle. I’m just really excited for it ok 😂

More self tape / scene study practice. If you haven’t read book 4 I highly recommend!

So fun getting to play out these scenes as Sabrina and Tucker’s dynamic unfolds 🥹

This specific audio felt very fitting to my mood today. Sometimes I wake up feeling like I got this. And other days I feel like an imposter. Like there is no way this can work out.

Today I caught myself saying I can’t do this. There are too many actors better than me out there. Luckily I have some wonderful friends that reminded me I’m doing this for myself. And that the best thing for me is to be uncomfortable. So here’s to being uncomfortable and to believing it can all work out 🤍

Also if you haven’t listened to @josiebalka you should. She is an incredible wordsmith. Manages to capture what so many of us feel or think in a beautiful way.

STOP ‼️ if you haven’t read Off-Campus Book 4 this tape has a spoiler! 🫣

Now I know why booktok dreaded book 4. This chapter was so sad to read. But I had so much fun exploring this moment between Sabrina and Tucker as an actor.

Watching this back there are so many things I would do differently. But my new moto is to stop chasing perfection so I’m posting anyway!

**disclaimer - these are sides I typed up myself - I won’t post content from projects I’m actively auditioning for 🫶🏽
