ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT | Lucy Slater We're proud to share that AUSTI. alum Lucy recently presented her work in progress ‘devilfish’ through Out of Bounds, a choreographic platform and artist development program presented by Lucy Guerin Inc and Dancehouse. As part of the program, Lucy shared an excerpt of her new work, devilfish, offering audiences and peers a glimpse into her creative process. The opportunity provided valuable space to test ideas, receive feedback and further develop her artistic voice as an independent choreographer. "The initial development period of 'devilfish' was extremely special to me. I gained valuable insight into the process of multidisciplinary collaboration and intergenerational exchange. Reflecting on the process, I feel grateful to have undertaken this opportunity and am eager to continue developing this work." We are incredibly proud to see Lucy creating and presenting her own work on national platforms, continuing to grow as an artist and contributing to the future of contemporary dance. Out of Bounds: presented by Lucy Guerin Inc & Dancehouse 2026 Performers: Lucy Slater, Amelie Carrie, Phil Slater Photography: Jeff Busby Choreographer: Lucy Slater

We are all animals This was a story which connected the layered history of the ground we walk on at VCA from the primordial wetlands through to the mounted police of Victoria. So grateful to have been able to costume design this work and help to define such an important story. Whilst horses may be what you see on the surface just like history there are so many important layers to this piece to be uncovered. Huge congrats to the team for without them none of this would be possible Costume team: Costume Manager: Sage Moorhen Senior Costumiers: @shellbee_sells_seashells @alii_price Costume Assistants: @_hannah.g.j @keepee_jeepee a.avery.mars Production Team: Stage Manager: @lucy_csen Assistant Stage Manager: miranda_seis Assistant Production Manager: @sophie_sykes Lighting Designer: @peter.liptai Sound Designer: @keira.murray_ Vision Designer: @itspronouncedcaoimhe Choreographer: @carolbrowndances Design Collaboration with @doritahannah Photos: @gregorylorenzutti And HUGE PROPS TO THE VCA 3RD YEAR DANCE COHORT
