What’s one movie that’s among your favorites (either from a specific studio, or one of your all-time favorites) that hasn’t gotten a Criterion release, but should get one in the future? I’ll start: Ferdinand (2017)

🫶🏻✨Restored!! 🥰
When I think back, I considered(er) myself SO fortunate, honored, and blessed to be among such amazing artists and creatives in their craft. To have seen them in their gifted element and talent at BlueSky Studios was another level, that many will never have the privilege of seeing again.. 😢 That’s aside from getting to know some on a personal level. Beautiful, kind, selfless, dedicated, and giving souls✨🥰
🫶🏻 So you can imagine what this delicate maquette meant to me when it took a heartbreaking turn.. I spent part of this weekend putting it back together. It wasn’t the easiest thing to do, and it took some time & patience. Like anything in life, if it means something to you it’s worth a bit of persistence and tenacity. Just like in some of the characters they’ve created over the years.

This is just an appreciation post of memorable people and unforgettable memories, although I didn’t meet everyone, I will never forget my BlueSky Family for making me & my Mom, feel part of the family. (I don’t say that loosely, that’s what they have said to me🥰) which means so much.

Love Bruce “the shuttle driver” 🚎💨💨

Throwback Thursday/Flashback Friday: Cinematic Christmas Edition

Decided to close out the year with a quick throwback featuring the first four Christmas Day movie screenings I’ve attended in recent years (and the first four I gathered pictures for, after I started highlighting the movies I would regularly see in theaters every month). Starting with Blue Sky Studios’ underrated masterpiece from 2017, Ferdinand, and ending with Illumination’s latest original film, Migration (both a great film and a great addition to Illumination’s filmography). For those who regularly go to the theaters on Christmas Day (or have done so in the past), what are your favorite movies you’ve seen on/around Christmas weekend?

Happy seventh anniversary to Blue Sky Studios’ 2017 masterpiece, Ferdinand, both my favorite movie of all time and an animated film that I believe deserves more praise and appreciation. To celebrate, here’s some of the original concept art, all from their respective artists (tagged and listed below, in order of appearance). As a bonus, enjoy this archived picture of the Ferdinand standee at my local Regal Cinemas theater (circa August 2017).
