POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Back in May, I headed to Kingsland, the home of Mary-Anne Robb (@theformidablemrsrobb), to interview her for @ft_houseandhome about the Georgian house and garden restoration she began in 2020.

With a legacy of heritage restorations, including Grade II* listed Chisenbury Priory in Wiltshire and medieval Cothay Manor in Somerset, she was undoubtedly the right person to bring the place back to life.

A woman with a formidable work ethic and tenacious personality, her attention to detail is both impressive and enviable. Whether selecting rare roses to ramble up walls, importing mature yew trees to move the garden project forward or adjusting dado rails to make them more period-accurate and pleasing to the eye, nothing escapes her notice.

Part of the @marlboroughtiles family – now celebrating its 90th year under the care of her son, Jamie Robb – Mary-Anne is a born creative and nothing short of an inspiration.

Thank you @beatricehodgkin and @lucywwatson for commissioning the piece.

Out today - enjoy reading.

My first newspaper article written by me, a guest column for the Financial Times is out today. I have always been a visual thinker and a storyteller rather than a writer, but putting years of thoughts, experience and instinct around lighting into words was unexpectedly rewarding. It has also given me an even greater appreciation for the journalists who have written about me and my work over the years, writing really is an art in itself. Thank you @beatricehodgkin for giving me the opportunity, and @lucywwatson and @thedesigncollective_ldn for helping bring it together. Perhaps putting pen to paper rather than pencil to sketchbook could be the start of something new…. LEE x

Double press win for this one.

Huge thanks to @lucywwatson and @serena_fokschaner for featuring @liddicoatgoldhill’s Sea, Sky House in @ft_houseandhome, and to @phoebefrangoul for a whopping 12-page feature in @elledecorationuk.

The Whitstable home is a playful take on domestic architecture, with living spaces upstairs and bedrooms tucked below. It’s packed with thoughtful, unexpected details, from reclaimed Antwerp City Hall doors to old iroko lab desks given a new life as bath surrounds.

Outside, @tommasseyuk’s coastal garden brings crushed oyster shells and resilient planting into the mix.

Very happy to see this one out in the world, beautifully captured by @michaelsinclair 📷.

In today’s FT House & Home, Nicoletta Fiorucci unveils La Casa degli Artisti, a new artist home redesigned by Annarita Aversa, studio Architetti Artigiani Anonimi, set in the heart of Grasse – the Provençal town just inland from the Côte d’Azur 🩷

Conceived as a space where personal life and artistic practice meet, the house echoes the Nicoletta Fiorucci Foundation’s commitment to nurturing experimentation, sustainability, and inclusivity in contemporary art and design. Housed within the Manoir de Blanchissage, the residence sits in a landscape crossed by the 19th century Canal de la Siagne, built to irrigate Grasse’s agricultural plots and floral fields.

The redesign imagines a home in conversation with this landscape. The surrounding gardens have been developed with landscape architect Paolo Pejrone, celebrated for the Royal Gardens of Venice and the Garden of the Redeemer, bringing his distinctive, quiet sensitivity to place.

Reconfigured across three levels, the former garden-level area now serves as an artist atelier, while the main floor opens into a library conceived as an intimate cabinet of Fiorucci’s books and collected objects, leading into a bedroom and multifunctional room with a loggia overlooking the grounds. Above, the top floor functions as an independent space with its own living area, kitchen and two bedrooms, creating what the architects describe as a ‘house within a house’.

The residence reflects Fiorucci’s sensibility as a collector. Among the works that feature here include Ettore Sottsass’
ceramic and glass vases, a site-specific wall piece by Maria
Loboda, paintings by Shikh Sabbir Alam, Ronan Bouroullec,
Celia Hempton, Nick Mauss, a stool by Anton Alvarez, and
delicate objects by Giulio Delvè, Lars Fredrikson, Katharina
Fritsch, and Judith Hopf introducing subtle but characterful
artistic interventions throughout.

My first feature for @ft_houseandhome @ft_weekend, a piece about vision, intention and pure grit.

The remarkable transformation of a derelict heritage building - a Staffordshire brick water tower - into a family home without compromising its structure and built aesthetic.

With great integrity, Poppy @poppyjrose and Mark @publichousearchitecture have brought all 85ft of building to life.

Thanks to @beatricehodgkin @lucywwatson @gemmalmoulton for the commission and work on the piece.

Thanks to @barnabykent for beautiful images.

Huge thanks to Poppy & Mark for trusting me with your story.

Excited to share something a little different… the latest project from @can_agram approaching things from a new angle. Incorporating a 2.5 tonne standing stone, MDF tendrils and a cave archway it’s safe to say this isn’t your typical London house anymore. Recently featured in the @ft_houseandhome with words by @lucywwatson

‘If you want to block your neighbours from peering into your new kitchen then you might think blinds are the best option. Boring!! Wrong!! The best option is a prehistoric standing stone — and the hunt for a 2.5 tonne rock from a random Cornish farmer’s field (and carefully craning it over the roof without smashing it through the house) was how @can_agram began its latest Druid Grove project.’ - @lucywwatson

Thanks for @brayne_ for assisting and @keeartists for the support as ever.
