After nine years at TVNZ, and eight years at @renewsnz, including six as Head of Content, I have resigned. I’ve been dealing with a bad Long Covid / ME CFS situation for the last few months and I’m just really sick of being sick so have decided to focus on myself and my health.

My time at Re: has been incredible, from being one of the founding members in 2017, and then as Head of Content being able to help grow it into what it is today.

It was incredibly important to me to help create a platform that delivered news, current affairs and documentary in a format, tone and place that young New Zealanders would resonate with, and I’m so proud of what we’ve done.

Some highlights include:

Winning best single-videographer feature video in 2019 for a story I shot, reported and edited, best current affairs video in 2020 for an episode of a series I co-directed, and Re: News winning best specialist publication two years in a row in 2023 and 2024.

Being one of the hosts of the 2021 Vaxathon, and the 2023 Young Voters’ Debate.

Creating the TikTok series Politics in 60 Seconds which got 2.5 million views.

Being Supervising Producer or Executive Producer on multiple NZ On Air-funded series.

The hundreds of stories or series I have helped shape into the best version of themselves.

The many people I have interviewed whose stories I’ve been able to share.

But the thing I am most proud of is honestly the people I have worked with, and the things we’ve learnt and built and done together.

There are too many to name, and I’m at the caption length limit so instead I will say: thank you for working with me 💖

Back to my health: don’t panic about me - I am slowly getting better. At its worst I was so dizzy I couldn’t stand up to shower and needed a little seat. I needed a stool in the kitchen because I was so exhausted I would get out of breath even chopping veges. I’ve gotten a lot better, but I’m still not 100%.

I’m going to take my time to get better and then see what life has in store for me. Also I expect to get very bored so I will be cooking a lot.

Also the biggest thank you to @trash_can_pete for his unwavering support over these months + years.
