School runs are the most fun, took one of my coolest friends on this run and she’ll tell you how fun it was taking Culo to school.

Luh’ra is a Cape Town-based artist who expresses herself through music, creating songs that are both personal and spacious. Her sound, often described as Alternative Soul, blends golden guitar textures and thoughtful lyrics that invite reflection and feeling.

Listening to Luh’ra is a meditative experience, flowing between vulnerability and warmth, melody and memory. Her music sits comfortably alongside artists like Lianne La Havas, Norah Jones and Meshell Ndegeocello, while holding its own unique sense of stillness.

Her sophomore EP, Nice (2022), the follow-up to her debut Luh’ra Luv (2019) expands on the soulful foundation she has laid, incorporating subtle jazz, smooth R&B and tender production to explore the nuances of human connection.

For this special performance, Luh’ra will be joined by her band for the first time since 2024. The evening will offer a glimpse into the music she has been exploring and developing over the past year and a preview of what is still to come.

Expect an evening of soulful music, old favourites and new sounds, shared in the intimate space of The Athletic Club and Social.

What does it mean to build culture in Cape Town?

This week’s Let’s Touch Base brings together three members of our Cape Town community who have participated in the city’s cultural ecosystem in very different ways, through creating spaces for intentional listening, building platforms for overlooked music and audiences, and developing a career through live performance.

Together with @luh.ra, @zwideservesbass & @kila_g_, we unpack why we build, how we find and nurture community, what Cape Town makes possible, and where its limitations sometimes require us to look beyond the city. Join us.

Panel Discussion: 7PM - 8PM

This was a tough one, ending in a 4–4 draw, but it’s a celebration every time we link up 🤷🏾⚽️
