Border Biennial Opening
El Paso Museum of Art
4 September 2026

Sometimes as an artist I tend to take for granted what makes an important and complex exhibit actually come to fruition.

Many thanks to Edward Hayes, Director; Michael Reyes, Senior Curator; Claudia Preza, Development Director and the staff for making the Biennial a success. Without their dedication and professionalism, and working in coordination with the 2026 Biennial curators Alejandro Morales and Dr. Adriana Morales Olivas, our voices and work would never be experienced.

stoked to finally share this album cover I did for Denver legends Fragrant Blossom. You can see their album release on the 15th.
.
Really grateful to do this, for music that I’ve been dancing to in many forms for years. When this album was first conceived my then partner and now dear friend wrote some lovely songs for me, so you know this album is very near and dear to my heart.
Congrats fragrant blossom, I’m still ur biggest fan.
.
Will never figure out instagram audio I guess so do me a favor and go listen for yourself. It’s a real treasure

Laminal Anamil consists of Luke Leavitt (piano, keyboards), Ari Smith (bass) and Tim Russell (drums, electronics). Originally formed in Madison, Wisconsin, the trio plays with a close ear towards the emergent processes of collective creation, blurring the lines between listening and responding, letting go and self-expression, stasis and transformation.

Excited to announce the release of Laminal Animil’s debut album: OF EXTRA-HUMAN FEELINGS on Through Mediums! This trio, made up of Luke Leavitt (keyboards/voice/electronics), Tim Russell (percussion/electronics) and Ari Smith (bass/small percussion/electronics) came together in Madison, Wisconsin the Spring of 2022 bringing forth an untethered approach to musical improvisation. Their sound playfully navigates the borders of free improvisation, electoacoustic music, noise, spoken word, and minimalism, collecting what they can to combine at the will of the moment. In support of this release, they return to the midwest with with a slew of dates spanning Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois. Come out to the show for a limited edition CD, or download it immediately on Bandcamp!
