Full Video on Live At 432 on YouTube

Kali Kali Zulfon was recorded in March 1988 in the Wiltshire countryside, on Nusrat Sahab’s first session at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, for Shahen-Shah (1989), the album that carried him out of Pakistan and into the world.
Real World called it “a dialogue between love and beauty”, the kind of ghazal that asks the qawwal for acute interpretation and sensitivity.

Akhiyan Udeek Dian is Punjabi for “my eyes keep waiting for you”, which Nusrat Sahab wrote with Khawaja Pervaiz and first sang on his 1979 UK tour.
Gorakh Dhanda, “you are a puzzle”, was written by Naz Khialvi, who hosted a radio show in Faisalabad for 27 years.
And Allah Hu is the one NFAK sang at midnight at WOMAD in 1985, 21 minutes long, the first time he sang to a non-Asian crowd.

A few clicks from the rehearsals. 🙏🏼

It is truly an honour for me to have had the opportunity to curate such a meaningful show here in Nairobi, Kenya bringing together exceptional artists representing different faiths, cultures, and traditions on one stage.

From Los Angeles, we have AnantVeer Singh Bhai, representing the Sikh faith; from Mumbai, India, Vedashree Khadilkar, representing the Hindu faith; and from Karachi, Pakistan, Rose Merry, representing the Christian faith.

I had the privilege of representing Sufi music and sharing the beauty of our tradition through my performance.

This beautiful musical journey was made even more special by the presence of Luke William Joshua, Amjad Gul, Muhammad Ifraeem Yusuf, Saimon Arshad, Sagar Veljee, and Junaid Ali artists who each hold a special place in their craft.

What an incredible experience it has been to be part of such a beautiful project, surrounded by such amazing souls. Music has once again reminded us that beyond our different faiths and backgrounds, there is a beautiful space where we can all come together. ❤️

Grateful for this experience, grateful for these artists, and grateful for the music that brings us closer. 🙏🏼🎶
