World Skate no Paraguai 🇵🇾
meu primeiro campeonato mundial de park 🇧🇷❤️‍🔥.

Nem sei explicar o quanto foi especial estar lá, representar o Brasil e viver tudo isso tão de perto. Dividir a pista com meninas incríveis, conhecer pessoas do mundo inteiro, fazer novas amizades e colecionar memórias que vou levar pra sempre comigo. Foi muito mais do que eu imaginava💗.

10 dias antes do mundial, machuquei o pé e nem sabia como seria…, ter a oportunidade de competir e acertar uma volta significou muito pra mim. Sou muito grata à minha fisio @viviancury_fisio que me ajudou a estar preparada para ir, à @camorano e @leoabrasil por toda a ajuda e disponibilidade durante esse processo. Não sei o que teria feito sem vocês! ❤️

We did a movie!

Thank you to everyone who collaborated and made this happen. It was a fun experience, as well as hard and challenging but we carried through it and got through a month of shooting, learning, and living together.

I will always remember all of the people in this project and the crazy stories and experiences we shared.

Big thank you to @cristianocasone_dop for coming here and making this happen. For teaching me so much and understanding. And for the fun anecdotes and 2 am stories.

To my dad @aloescobarc and mom @rommygonzalez for always believing in me and helping me make my dreams come true no matter how big they are.

To my brother Elias for holding the boom for hours!

And to our crew and actors who gave it all on the field and worked for long hours with no pay but the experience and passion.

Some people think skateboarding is something you do until you grow out of it.

But in fact we keep growing into it.

It’s a proving ground. You fail in public a hundred times before you land anything. You learn to frame a shot. You learn to edit. You learn to self-fund. You learn nobody’s coming to give you permission.

Which is why skateboarding so rarely ends at skating.

It’s a doorway, a portal if you will, and @lulo.2009 is walking boldly on through.

When she told me the storytelling was the thing she couldn’t put down, it wasn’t a pivot. It was the direction she’d been moving the whole time.

Phototaxis is what came of it.

A 16-year-old moves to her late great-grandmother’s small town and falls in with two local skaters. When a boy goes missing, their search turns up something worse: her father has been taking people for years — and he thinks he’s saving them.

A psychological thriller. Hardest kind of film to make well, easiest to make badly. Of course she picked it. You don’t spend years slamming on concrete and then choose the safe option.

Phototaxis: the movement of an organism toward light.

The easy positioning would have been “skater who also films.” The truer one: she’s a filmmaker, and skating is the joy underneath it.

@jamiemosberg and I came in to help. The script was hers: we read it, offered a few notes, and mostly got out of its way.

Where we were useful was everything around it: getting her description sharp enough that a funder could repeat it back, mapping what has to happen and in what order to get from a script to a set. She ran the pitch on us until she could say it without notes.

Then we stepped away. Because at some point every dollar and every hour belongs to the film, not the people advising it.

She’s raising $10k to shoot, $3k secured and already started shooting, so all of it goes directly to the production.

Skateboarding gave her the reps.

Más que un deporte, el skateboarding es una escuela de vida. 🛹

Lo que comenzó con una tabla prestada hoy ha llevado a Lourdes Escobar a representar a Colombia en escenarios internacionales, convirtiéndose en una de las referentes del skate femenino en el país.

Su historia refleja los valores que hacen única esta disciplina: perseverancia, comunidad y autenticidad. De la mano de Vans, continúa inspirando a nuevas generaciones a creer en su proceso y disfrutar cada paso del camino.
